Οι Clairvoyant, ως όνομα, δεν γίνεται φυσικά να μην είναι γνωστοί σας. Ένα ακόμη ελληνικό συγκρότημα της συνομοταξίας του κλασικού Heavy/Power/Epic Metal, που ανθεί τα τελευταία… 35 χρόνια στη χώρα, ετοιμάζεται να κυκλοφορήσει σύντομα το νέο του, τέταρτο πλήρες έργο.

Ο Αντώνης Ναθαναήλ βρίσκεται πλέον πίσω από το μικρόφωνο, προσφέροντας ανανέωση σε έναν ήδη χορταστικό —όπως θα διαπιστωθεί— δίσκο. Δώδεκα κομμάτια στο άλμπουμ των Χαλκιδέων, σε γνώριμες φόρμες για τον ακροατή και φίλο τους, που προσφέρουν στιγμές μουσικής αναθάρρησης.

Ας ξεκινήσουμε από το κύριο και μέγιστο θέμα: την παραγωγή. Καθαρή και με όγκο, υποστηρίζει πλήρως τα κοφτερά μεταλλικά riffs, που σε σημεία γίνονται τόσο proggy όσο και εμπλουτισμένα με νεοκλασικές πινελιές.

Τα πλήκτρα υπάρχουν όσο πρέπει, κρατώντας συνοδευτικό ρόλο και γεμίζοντας μελωδικά τα σημεία όπου εμφανίζονται. Μπάσο και ντραμς ακούγονται σωστά, χωρίς υπερβολές και χωρίς να καταλαμβάνουν καταχρηστικά το ηχητικό φάσμα. Η φωνή μου αρέσει· κολλάει στο όλο θέμα μια χαρά.

Η μπάντα, από το 1999 όταν κυκλοφόρησε το ντεμπούτο της Fighter’s Soul, έχει περάσει σε μια πολύ πιο ώριμη εποχή, αλλά και εξόχως ενδιαφέρουσα ιστορία, για να φτάσει με το Eternal Victory να δώσει ένα από τα καλύτερα επιτεύγματά της από τα τρία άλμπουμ που είχαν προηγηθεί.

Eternal Victory, Heroes, Riddles, The Quiet Dance of Time (Prelude), Time Marches On, Dreams of the Past, Barren Lands, Sentinels, Eternal Empire (Alexander), η σκοτεινή μπαλάντα Love Me Forever των Motörhead (διασκευασμένη διαφορετικά αλλά όμορφα), καθώς και τα Dreams of the Past και Barren Lands (Alternate Version).

Οι τίτλοι αυτοί με κέρδισαν αρκετά, όσες φορές κι αν άκουσα το σύνολο μέχρι στιγμής.

Το μόνο που ίσως δεν με κάνει να του βάλω εννιά είναι η τάση επανάληψης «κλασικών» θεμάτων, από τα οποία γενικότερα το Power Metal μαστίζεται.

Για μένα είναι ένα στιβαρό 8/10. Μιλάμε για ένα πολύ καλό νέο άλμπουμ στη φαρέτρα των παιδιών του διπλού πέλεκυ, αλλά και της ελληνικής μεταλλικής σκηνής συνολικά.

Seeking the Riddle Master

The Clairvoyant name is, of course, one you’re already familiar with. Another Greek band belonging to the long‑standing tradition of classic Heavy/Power/Epic Metal—a scene that has been thriving in the country for the past 35 years—is preparing to release its new, fourth full‑length album.

Antonis Nathanael now stands behind the microphone, bringing a sense of renewal to a record that is already quite substantial, as will become evident. Twelve tracks from the band from Chalkida, written in familiar forms for their listeners and fans, offering moments of musical uplift.

Let’s begin with the central and most important aspect: the production. Clean and full‑bodied, it fully supports the sharp metallic riffs, which at times lean into proggy territory and at others carry touches of neoclassical color.

The keyboards appear exactly as needed, taking on a mostly supportive role and melodically filling the spaces where they emerge. Bass and drums sound right, without excess and without occupying the sonic spectrum in an overbearing way. I like the vocals; they fit the whole concept very well.

Since 1999, when they released their debut Fighter’s Soul, the band has entered a far more mature phase—one with an interesting history—leading up to Eternal Victory, which stands as one of their strongest achievements among the three albums that preceded this one.

Eternal Victory, Heroes, Riddles, The Quiet Dance of Time (Prelude), Time Marches On, Dreams of the Past, Barren Lands, Sentinels, Eternal Empire (Alexander), the dark ballad Love Me Forever by Motörhead (covered differently but beautifully), along with Dreams of the Past and Barren Lands (Alternate Version).

These tracks won me over quite a bit, no matter how many times I listened to the album as a whole so far.

The only thing that keeps me from giving it a nine is the tendency toward repeating “classic” themes—an issue that, more broadly, Power Metal often suffers from.

For me, it’s a solid 8/10. We’re talking about a very good new album added to the quiver of the double‑axe warriors, and to the Greek metal scene as a whole.
