This is probably my favorite Pantera release of all time!  I love the riffs on pretty much all of the songs, those only 1-2 tracks that I'm not fond of but overall I thought this a more than average perhaps one of the most memorable Pantera releases in their entire discography for me!  This album is just charged with energy as well!  These guys were pretty heavy on here...guitar wise and the bass is loud enough to hear.  I like the vocals as well.  Everything seemed to mesh in here for a good portion of the tracks.  I like the solos too, they were another highlight.  Some of the best riffs that Pantera had ever come up with were on here!

Μικρός που είναι ο κόσμος. Θυμάμαι πριν κάποια χρόνια να κάνω συνέντευξη με μέλη του Ιταλικού metal συγκροτήματος RAPID FIRE. Μιας μπάντας με έναν αρκετά ενδιαφέροντα ήχο που κατά ομολογία τους προσπαθούσαν να συνδυάσουν επιρροές από RUNNING WILD και LOUDNESS και να τις μετουσιώσουν στο δικό τους ύφος. Το εν λόγω συγκρότημα κυκλοφόρησε μόλις ένα δίσκο και μετά εξαφανίστηκε. Πρόκειται για την κυκλοφορία «Scream!» που αξίζει να τσεκάρετε αν την βρείτε κάπου.

This release is charged with hatred amazing they pulled it off.  I didn't like this in the beginning because it's so different from their older material.  By older I mean when Barney first joined the band via 'Harmony Corruption'.  I just need to again get used to all the screaming because there's no burly vocals like in the past even on 'Utopia Banished' and 'Fear Emptiness Despair'.  Those were the good days (to me).  It's a matter of getting used to the 21st century Napalm.  This one is charged with blisteringly fast guitar work though they change it up some songs are just slow and seem out of place.

Ίσως, τελικά, μέσω αυτής της διαδικασίας διευρύνονται και οι δικοί μου μουσικοί ορίζοντες και με κάνουν να αναθεωρήσω και να εκτιμήσω κάποια πράγματα εκ νέου.

This is a killer release featuring riffs that are impeccable.  The sound quality of this album is also superb.  Everything seemed to fit on this one.  I don't own much of their material aside from digital, but I'll tell you this...it is a monument of an album 'Ungod' devastates.  It's too bad this band is defunct.  They really would've had a lot of years together.  I get it if you lose the passion but they left the music scene on a great note because 'Ungod' is impeccable.  I have nothing bad to say about this release.  The music is amazing.  And original sounding to the utter maximum degree!  An array of metal perfection!

Πολύ χαίρομαι που μου δίνεται η ευκαιρία να γράψω για μια αγαπημένη μου μπάντα, τους Ιταλούς DRAKKAR. Θυμάμαι όντας φοιτητής να ανακαλύπτω το ντεμπούτο τους σε κάποιο δισκάδικο μεταχειρισμένων. Με το πρώτο κιόλας άκουσμα του «Quest for Glory» αγάπησα τον ήχο του συγκροτήματος που είχε μια ιδιαιτερότητα ανάλογη αυτού του πρώτου δίσκου των DOMINE. Και ειλικρινά δεν ξέρω γιατί δεν κατάφεραν να αποκτήσουν το ίδιο έρεισμα στο Ελληνικό κοινό του επικού metal ήχου όπως οι συμπατριώτες τους DOMINE και DOOMSWORD. Επίσης να σημειώσω ότι μάλλον πρόκειται από τις πρώτες μπάντες που στις συνθέσεις τους είχαν κι έντονες αναφορές στους τεράστιους RUNNING WILD. Προτού, δηλαδή, η όλη φάση γίνει μια μορφή μόδας με γκρουπ όπως οι BLAZON STONE. Αν και οι DRAKKAR για τον γράφοντα ενσωματώνουν τις επιρροές τους με πιο πρωτότυπο και δημιουργικό τρόπο. Άσχετο αν αγαπώ εξίσου τα 2 συγκροτήματα.

Solid guitar and sound on this one!  What a difference than on the earlier stuff.  This seems a bit more polished.  Still good though, not as heavy as their earlier work but still good!  The drums hit home on here and the riffs are dynamic!  I enjoyed this album a lot.  They really did a good job on here as a follow-up.  I liked this whole album, I thought that it was really a steal in terms of the songwriting.  The guitars are my favorite on this.  And the vocals are a close second!  But overall, this album has a lot of meat to it!  The recording is not as good as all, but that's alright because the music makes up for it!

What a solid release despite the critics.  But hey! I'm considered a critic myself.  I think "Shot in the Dark" is their most pivotal song on this entire album!  But the music on here is catchy and anything but brutal.  I'm not a huge fan of alternative metal.  But I do dig Lacuna Coil though Within Temptation is pretty much all clean vocals.  I like that better actually, especially the clean female vocals like on Epica's albums where Simone sings.  Cristina Scabbia is also a great vocalist for Lacuna Coil.  I think this band has been around and a lot of discography behind them.  Definitely a solid band to change it up from the brutal stuff that I like.

EXILIUM NOCTIS – Night Witches

 

Greek black metallers EXILIUM NOCTIS, after their first single and video “Desecrators”, return with the second single and video, entitled “Night Witches”, that will be included also in their upcoming debut album, that we will release during 2022.

The video clip is directed by Timeline Filmmakers (Silent Winter, Nightrage) in a collaboration with Doitforme.

WEIGHT OF EMPTINESS released new video clip

 

Chilean Doom/Death Metal band WEIGHT OF EMPTINESS released their new video clip «Chucao». The song is based on a legend associated with a little bird of the same name, which inhabits the forests of southern Chile. It is associated with a Mapuche legend, which indicates that if a walker goes into a forest and hears the Chucao trill from the right, he will have a quiet journey, but if the trill is from the left side, it will be better to return.

The video clip was recorded mainly in southern Chile, and was directed and edited by Lucho Villegas. Joaquín Cacciuttolo was in charge of photography and post color. The actor who appears is Mario Montecinos, who also wrote the lyrics of the song, and reflects part of his own history with some nuances to extol the search for freedom and how madness underlies the loneliness of the deepest part of the Valdivian rainforest.

 

Newcomer Band: BETTY THE RACCOON

 

Η ιδέα του ρακούν που γουστάρει να κλέβει φαί και να ροκάρει γεννήθηκε το 2017 όταν η Μπέτυ έψαχνε άτομα με την ίδια αγάπη για το φαγητό και την ροκ μουσική. Το σπίτι της μπάντας, το μαγικό δάσος της Thessa, βρίσκεται στην καρδιά της Θεσσαλονίκης.

Όταν το υλικό τον τραγουδιών τελειοποιήθηκε, η Μπέτυ μαζί με την Πέγκυ στην κιθάρα, την Καλλιόπη στo μπάσο και τον Κόκυ στα ντραμς μπήκαν στο στούντιο τον Οκτώβρη του 2018 για να ηχογραφήσουν το πρώτο μέρος του πρώτου δίσκου τους ονόματι “Between Mud and Sunshine”. To βίντεο για το single “Shiver” κυκλοφόρησε στις 1η Δεκεμβρίου ενώ ο δίσκος κυκλοφόρησε στις 5 Δεκέμβρη του 2019 συνοδευόμενος από ένα release party το οποίο μέσα σε όλα παρείχε και φαγητό φτιαγμένο επί τόπου από τον Σύλλογο Μανιταρόφιλων Ελλάδος.

To πρώτο μέρος, το οποίο ονομάστηκε Sunshine, κέρδισε την προσοχή αρκετών μουσικόφιλων με την εκρηκτική του μίξη απο βαριές κιθάρες και έντονα μελωδικές φωνές όπου μαζί με ένα δεμένο rhythm section δημιούργησε σε μικρό χρονικό διάστημα πιστούς φαν.

Το 2020, η μπάντα μπήκε στο στούντιο να ηχογραφήσει το δεύτερο μέρος του “Between Mud and Sunshine” που θα ονομαστεί “Mud”. To Μάρτιο του 2021 κυκλοφόρησαν το βίντεοκλιπ για τον κομμάτι “5am”.

Το 2021 η μπάντα στοχεύει να ολοκληρώσει τις ηχογραφήσεις του δεύτερου μέρους του δίσκου “Between Mud and Sunshine” και να δώσει όσες περισσότερες συναυλίες μπορεί για την προώθηση του.

Πρόκειται, λοιπόν, για την Ισπανική δισκογραφική εταιρία Gadir Records, η οποία ως σκοπό έχει να επανακυκλοφορήσει δουλειές από την 80’ς Ισπανική ,κατά κύριο λόγο, metal σκηνή. Μια προσπάθεια αξιόλογη θα έλεγα διότι μας δίνει μια καλή εικόνα για την metal σκηνή στην χώρα αυτή κατά την δεκαετία του 1980. Μια σκηνή που διέθετε ποικιλία συγκροτημάτων κι ακουσμάτων.

NEBRØDI MURDER released new single

 

Sicilian Gothic/Doom Metal band NEBRØDI MURDER released their new single «Ready For Burial Clothes» from the band upcoming album. The song was written in the Sinagra Cemetery, in Sicily. Recording, mix and master were made by Paolo Russo in Castell’Umberto.

NEBRØDI MURDER (stage name of Michele Sauta) was born as a project that unites different genres of metal, starting from folk up to doom metal.  The first projects date back to 2019 with folk and Symphonic Metal such as ‘Reign of North’ and ‘Devil's Gospel’.  From 2020 the main point of the published pieces also shifts to a sensorial and metaphysical effect.  The tracks feature orchestras and a lot of FX sounds that create a feeling of depth.

UBRUXUM released debut album

 

Canadian Death Metal/Grindcore band UBRUXUM released their debut album «Mucho Bruxismo». The release was recorded, mixed and mastered at "The Woodshed" in Toronto, Canada between March and September 2021.

UBRUXUM was formed in 2019 in Toronto, Ontario by guitarist Jim Kollins and bassist Daniel Andreas. The band is now looking to further establish a solid foundation in the underground death metal scene, locally as well as internationally. Inspired by the criminally insane, the band is currently working on a new concept EP called 'Bruxumaniacs' that they plan to release in May, 2022.

BRUTAL!  I like the music on this release.  It's not their best release, but I do think it's really solid.  Love the guitar riffs the most.  And the sound quality is good, too.  The vocals aren't as burly as the most, they mainly shift between heavy or heavier.  I think the highlight to me is definitely the music.  ABSOLUTELY.  The fluctuation between throat and deep throat vocals keeps the music at the point to where it follows therein.  I thought that the switch keeps it from going monotonous.  It's too bad this album isn't longer, but yet again I have to hear their new release!  I'll be hearing it soon, though!

Mexican Progressive Metal/Folk band AZTLAN released their new album «Revolucion». The album was recorded at "Pirámide Estudio" and mixed/mastered by Jesus Bravo at "Bravesound Studio". It is a conceptual album dedicated to the armed movement between the people and the dictatorship, a struggle that took place in Mexico in 1910 called the Mexican revolution.

AZTLAN was formed in 2018 at Mexico City by El General (Vocal), Attila (Vocal / Guitar), Muerto (Guitar), Katu (Bass), Diablo (Drums), Jaguar (ancient percussions) and Cuauhtli (ancient percussions). The band released in 2018 their debut album "México inmortal" and in January 2021 their second album "Legion Mexica".

Τα φαινόμενα απατούν. Έτσι, κάπως, την πάτησα κι εγώ. Βλέποντας το όνομα του συγκροτήματος σκέφτηκα ότι το εμπνεύστηκαν από το ντεμπούτο άλμπουμ του U.D.O. Συνέπεια αυτής της σκέψης μου ήταν να οδηγηθώ στο αυθαίρετο συμπέρασμα ότι θα έχω να κάνω με ένα συγκρότημα επηρεασμένο από τον Γερμανικό metal ήχο. Ε, δεν μπορούσα να πέσω πιο έξω. Γι’ αυτό υπενθυμίζω στον εαυτό μου και προσπαθώ να το τηρώ σχεδόν πάντα ότι πριν γράψω μια παρουσίαση είναι καλό να κάνω μια έρευνα σχετικά με το συγκρότημα.

FLOWERS OF FLESH released debut EP

American Blackened Sludge Metal band FLOWERS OF FLESH released their new self titled EP. The release was mixed and mastered at Apothecary Sound by Tim Nyss, who also played session drums and bass and did the art. Francois Boyenval also contributed to the sessions cello on the last track.

FLOWERS OF FLESH was formed in 2021 at Cleveland, Ohio by Jake O'Brien (guitar/vocals) who has influences by Scott Walker and Lee Ranaldo as well as movies and soundtracks.

What a HEAVY release!  I think their previous was a bit better, but this one packs a punch and I was impressed with their perseverance regarding their songwriting.  The music is brutal and so are the vocals.  Sound quality is quite good, but I thought 'Necrophiliac Cults' was a little more impressive.  This still has some great moments.  The riff-writing was good, but the tone of the guitars were on distortion but a little more dark.  The quality of the music is better than their previous but the guitars I thought their previous was better.  Nevertheless, the overall output here was admirable.
