UNDER SILENCE – Memories Lost in Time

Independent Release

Release Date: November 30th

Epic metal seems to be enjoying a renewed appreciation these days, and revisiting Memories Lost in Time in 2026 feels like opening a time capsule from that era. Historically, winter was the season when warriors rested and bards stepped forward to sing of heroism and pride. UNDER SILENCE, hailing from Spain’s Basque Country, embraced exactly that spirit. With their sole release, they set out to narrate the stories and emotions tied to their homeland, shaping a sound that stands somewhere between power metal and epic metal.

Imagine a blend of BLIND GUARDIAN’s narrative flair, MANOWAR’s martial grandeur, and IRON MAIDEN’s melodic gallop, and you’ll have a solid idea of the musical direction here. The lyrics—written in English—lean toward the emotional and atmospheric side of epic storytelling, reminiscent in tone of BATHORY’s later-era approach. Rather than recounting specific battles or historical events, they focus on pride, memory, and the beauty of their land.

The band’s strongest assets lie in their memorable melodies and their ability to craft choruses that invite the listener to sing along. Even now, sixteen years later, those elements remain effective and sincere. UNDER SILENCE clearly aimed to evoke a particular atmosphere, and in that regard they succeeded. Memories Lost in Time stands as both their debut and their farewell, since the band disbanded shortly after its release.

Looking back, this album offers a glimpse of what could have been, but also stands well enough on its own. If you’re drawn to epic metal with heart and melody, this lone chapter from UNDER SILENCE is still worth exploring.
