PROPHECY
- Illusion of Time (2010)
Musea Parallèle
This album marks the debut release of the French
progressive metal band Prophecy. The style on Illusion of Time combines
progressive metal with notable elements of progressive rock, resulting in a
sound that is both intricate and accessible. The album stands out as a strong
example within its genre—something I don't often say lightly about a
progressive metal record.
Among the tracks, my favorites include “On the Edge,”
which I find reminiscent of Uriah Heep’s classic sound, as well as “Keys of
Destiny” and “Leave Me Be.” The title tracks, “Illusion of Time” and
“Prophecy,” are also noteworthy, successfully engaging the listener with
compelling compositions.
While there is room for growth and refinement in their
future work, Illusion of Time remains a high-quality album within the metal
scene. It is particularly recommended for fans of progressive metal, but those
with an open mind should give it a listen as well.
In the context of French progressive metal releases,
this album stands out alongside Silent Fall as one of the notable highlights
from 2010. For those interested in exploring the genre, Prophecy’s debut is
certainly worth your time—an enduring piece from a promising band.
