Άλλοι κάνουν άλμπουμ διασκευών· οι Νορβηγοί, που ξεκίνησαν με Death Metal, μεγαλούργησαν στο Black Metal και, στη συνέχεια, πέρασαν σε Blackened Thrash Metal, αναμειγμένο με αρκετό Crust Punk στις αρχές του νέου αιώνα, και τώρα περνούν εδώ τη σκέψη τους στο επόμενο στάδιο. 

Σκέφτομαι τους Fenriz και Nocturno Culto να αναρωτιούνται τί άλλο μπορούν να κάνουν αντί να διασκευάζουν Venom, Angel Witch, Satan, Celtic Frost, Exploited, Mercyful Fate, Manowar, Tokyo Blade, Iron Maiden, Voivod, Saxon, Motörhead και γενικά ό,τι άκουγαν σαν παιδιά κι αυτοί. Οπότε, γιατί να κάτσουν να παίξουν τα καλύτερα κομμάτια αυτών των ιστορικών συγκροτημάτων; 

Έπεσε η ιδέα να κάνουν ένα ολόκληρο άλμπουμ με δικό τους υλικό, που να έχει αυτόν τον αέρα και τους πιο επιδραστικούς ήχους της δεκαετίας του '80. Το πιο περίεργο, από τα παράξενα άλμπουμ των Νορβηγών, λοιπόν, είναι σήμερα στο στερεοφωνικό. 

Κομμάτια που είναι γραμμένα να θυμίζουν οτιδήποτε άλλο εκτός από Metal—εκτός, βέβαια, από τον δικό τους ήχο, αν εξαιρέσουμε το λογότυπό τους στο εξώφυλλο. Τα "Those Treasures Will Never Befall You", "Run For Borders", "I Am the Graves of the 80s", "Circle of Wagons", "Black Mountain Totem", "I Am The Working Class" και "Eyes Burst at Dawn" είναι τα πιο αντιπροσωπευτικά ενός δίσκου που πραγματικά δεν ξέρεις πώς να τον χαρακτηρίσεις. Και αυτό μη το πάρεις απαραίτητα ως αρνητικό σχόλιο.

A tribute to their influences.

Some bands do cover albums—Norwegians, who started out with Death Metal, then rose to prominence in Black Metal, later moved into Blackened Thrash Metal, mixed with plenty of Crust Punk in the early 2000s, and now are passing their thoughts into the next stage. 

I imagine Fenriz and Nocturno Culto wondering what else they can do instead of covering Venom, Angel Witch, Satan, Celtic Frost, Exploited, Mercyful Fate, Manowar, Tokyo Blade, Iron Maiden, Voivod, Saxon, Motörhead, and basically everything they listened to as kids. So, why sit down and play the best tracks of these legendary bands? 

The idea came up for them to make an entire album of original material that captures that vibe and features the most influential sounds of the 1980s. The strangest thing—among the oddest albums from the Norwegians—is now playing through the stereo. 

Songs that are written to sound like anything else besides Metal—except, of course, for their own sound, if we exclude the logo on the cover. Tracks like “Those Treasures Will Never Befall You,” “Run For Borders,” “I Am the Graves of the 80s,” “Circle of Wagons,” “Black Mountain Totem,” “I Am The Working Class,” and “Eyes Burst at Dawn” are the most representative of an album you genuinely wouldn’t know how to categorize. And don’t necessarily take that as a negative comment.
