Σαρανταπέντε χρόνια τούβλα στον ίδιο τοίχο.

Αν η progressive rock έφτασε στο ζενίθ της, τότε αυτό το άλμπουμ είναι το ζενίθ αυτό.

Η μεταπολεμική Βρετανία μέσα από τα μάτια των παιδιών που μεγαλώνουν στα ερείπια του Δεύτερου Παγκοσμίου Πολέμου, ζώντας την ψευδαίσθηση που όλοι μας ζήσαμε σαν παιδιά: ειρήνη, αγάπη, εργασία, ελπίδα, ψευδαίσθηση ενός μέλλοντος που τελικά είναι μίζερο, και της οικογένειας μέσα στην οποία μεγαλώνουν — όλα όμως αυτά κλεισμένα πίσω από έναν τοίχο.

Το σχολείο βοηθά μόνο το κυρίαρχο σύστημα να αποκτήσει νέο κρέας για τη μηχανή του κιμά.

Σχηματίζουν όλοι έναν πανύψηλο τοίχο γύρω από όλους τους μικρούς μαθητές μιας επαρχιακής βιομηχανικής πόλης, ή ακόμα χειρότερα, μιας μεγαλούπολης που το μόνο που υπόσχεται είναι το μαύρο και σκοτεινό μέλλον.

Ο ήρωας του concept φτάνει στην απέναντι πλευρά του πολιτικού φάσματος και στη τρέλα.

Οι Roger Waters (μπάσο και φωνή), David Gilmour (κιθάρα και φωνητικά), Nick Mason (ντραμς) και Richard Wright (πλήκτρα) φτιάχνουν το Magnum Opus του συγκροτήματος, που ήδη είχε ξεκινήσει από τα τέλη της δεκαετίας του '60.

Η απομόνωση που ζουν τα παιδιά την εποχή αυτή (κι ακόμα τη ζουν στην τεχνολογική εποχή μας) και η κοινωνική σαπίλα μετατρέπεται σε ένα πραγματικό κατηγορώ μέσω κομματιών όπως τα τρία μέρη του πασίγνωστου "Another Brick in the Wall", "The Thin Ice", "In the Flesh", "Mother", "Nobody Home", "Young Lust", "Goodbye Blue Sky", "The Trial", "Hey You", "Is There Anybody Out There?", "Don't Leave Me Now", "Comfortably Numb" και τόσα άλλα από τα εικοσιπέντε συνολικά κομμάτια/μέρη μιας πραγματικής rock όπερας.

Η κινηματογραφική ταινία, που ήταν το φυσικό επακόλουθο αυτού του concept, μου κίνησε την περιέργεια για τη μουσική σαν μικρό παιδί κάποτε, στην ΕΡΤ1, παλιά, στην ασπρόμαυρη τηλεόραση του σπιτιού μου...

If progressive rock reached its peak, then this album is that peak.

Post-war Britain through the eyes of children growing up amidst the ruins of World War II, living the illusion that we all experienced as children: peace, love, work, hope—an illusion of a future that ultimately is bleak—and the family they grow up in—all of this hidden behind a wall.

School only helps the ruling system to acquire new meat for its meat grinder.

All form a towering wall around the young students of a provincial industrial town, or even worse, a big city that promises only a dark and bleak future.

The protagonist of the concept reaches the other side of the political spectrum and into madness.

Roger Waters (bass and vocals), David Gilmour (guitar and vocals), Nick Mason (drums), and Richard Wright (keyboards) create the band's Magnum Opus, which had already begun in the late 1960s.

The isolation that children experience during that era (and still do in our technological age), along with societal decay, turns into a real condemnation through tracks such as the three parts of the famous "Another Brick in the Wall," "The Thin Ice," "In the Flesh," "Mother," "Nobody Home," "Young Lust," "Goodbye Blue Sky," "The Trial," "Hey You," "Is There Anybody Out There?," "Don't Leave Me Now," "Comfortably Numb," and many others from the twenty-five total pieces/parts of a true rock opera.

The cinematic film, which was the natural sequel to this concept, sparked my curiosity about music as a small child once upon a time, on ERT1, back in the day, on my family's black-and-white television...
