Ένα στόρυ σε συνέχειες, μέρος τρίτο

Το τρίτο κατά σειρά πλήρες άλμπουμ των Γερμανών power metalers, και συνάμα το τελευταίο στο οποίο συμμετέχει ο Kai Hansen στις κιθάρες, αλλά και σε αρκετά φωνητικά. Ο Piet Sielck συνεχίζει την ιστορία των άλμπουμ «Iron Savior» (1997) και «Unification» (1999), ολοκληρώνοντας μια τριλογία επιστημονικής φαντασίας.

Για να πω την αλήθεια, εδώ με κουράζει λιγάκι. Όσο «μονορούφι» άκουσα το «Unification» (που είναι και το πρώτο τους άλμπουμ που απέκτησα), τόσο εδώ με χαλάει κάπως η κατάσταση. Με αυτό δεν εννοώ ότι έχουν κάνει κακή δουλειά ή ότι ο δίσκος δεν είναι καλός. Είναι μια χαρά, αλλά χάνει απλώς στη σύγκριση με τα δύο προηγούμενα έργα τους.

Το συγκρότημα, μάλιστα, εδώ έχει και «πληθωριστική» τάση, αφού τα μέλη είναι συνολικά έξι:

 Piet Sielck: ρυθμική κιθάρα και φωνή

 Kai Hansen: κιθάρα και φωνητικά

Joachim Küstner: κιθάρα (ήταν κι η εποχή που οι τρεις κιθάρες έγιναν μόδα απ’ την επανένωση των Iron Maiden!)

Jan Sören Eckert: μπάσο

Andreas Kuck: πλήκτρα

Thomas Nack: ντραμς

Το «Never Say Die», που ξεκινά κάπως ασυνήθιστα τον δίσκο, δεν είναι βέβαια διασκευή στους Black Sabbath! Ούτε και το δεύτερο κομμάτι, «Seek and Destroy», είναι διασκευή στους Metallica!

Τα «Solar Wings», «I've Been to Hell», «Dragons Rising», «Predators», «Made of Metal» (αν μη τι άλλο!), «Back Into the Light» είναι αντιπροσωπευτικά δείγματα του ύφους τους.

Τέλος, η απαραίτητη διασκευή (ε, αλίμονο!) στο «Delivering the Goods» των Judas Priest κλείνει το σύνολο.

A Serial Story, Part Three

This is the third full album by the German power metal band, and also the last one featuring Kai Hansen on guitars and vocals. Piet Sielck continues the story from their previous albums "Iron Savior" (1997) and "Unification" (1999), completing a science fiction trilogy.

Honestly, I find this one a bit tiring. As much as I listened to "Unification" (which is also the first album of theirs I owned) in one go, I feel a bit disappointed with this one. I don't mean to say they've done a bad job or that the album isn't good. It's fine, but it simply doesn't measure up to their previous two works.

The band here seems to have an almost "inflated" lineup, with a total of six members:

- Piet Sielck: rhythm guitar and vocals

- Kai Hansen: guitar and vocals

- Joachim Küstner: guitar (this was also the era when three-guitar lineups became popular after Iron Maiden's reunion!)

- Jan Sören Eckert: bass

- Andreas Kuck: keyboards

- Thomas Nack: drums

The track "Never Say Die," which opens the album somewhat unusually, is definitely not a cover of Black Sabbath! Nor is the second track, "Seek and Destroy," a Metallica cover!

Songs like "Solar Wings," "I've Been to Hell," "Dragons Rising," "Predators," "Made of Metal" (if I may say so!), and "Back Into the Light" are representative samples of their style.

Finally, the obligatory cover (oh, the shame!) of Judas Priest's "Delivering the Goods" closes the album.
