του, «Tales... of the Unexpected», που ακολουθεί το ορχηστρικό «Prelude».
ύμνος, το «Worship the Night», που ακολουθεί παρακάτω, πριν από το «Lady Evil»,
Τα «The Hawk and the Wolf», «Fools Overture», «Witch's
Cry», «The Final Battle» και «Judgment Day» συνεχίζουν το ξέφρενο πάρτι με ηλεκτρικές νότες.
Ένα
English:
Revelation in Notes
Neoclassical Power Metal, Heavy Metal or Hard Rock?
Ultimately, it is all of them rolled into one on the second official album by
this band, fronted by a guitarist who has rightfully become the wise leader of
all devotees of the six-string lady with the beautiful curves (provided she
happens to be a Stratocaster; otherwise, those curves come in all sorts of
shapes).
This was the album that introduced me to the band —
or, more precisely, to its signature song, “Tales... of the Unexpected,” which
follows the instrumental “Prelude.” I still remember watching ET3, when the
band performed the track live in the studio on the afternoon music show
Jammin'.
Yes, this style was already familiar to me through the
legendary Ritchie Blackmore, particularly during his Rainbow years rather than
his time with Deep Purple, but also through Uli Jon Roth, Yngwie J. Malmsteen
and John Norum, as well as, of course, Stratovarius, who were still riding high
at the time.
It would be unfair, then, to label this album the
band's best; it is more accurate to regard it as their most representative
work. Another anthem, “Worship the Night,” which appears further down the
tracklist, before “Lady Evil,” is equally characteristic of their sound. “The
Hawk and the Wolf,” “Fools Overture,” “Witch's Cry,” “The Final Battle” and
“Judgment Day” keep the electrifying party going, one soaring note after
another.
A genuine gem of the Greek metal scene, released
towards the end of the twentieth century, at a time when classic Heavy Metal
was making a powerful comeback across Europe, with spectacular results.
And yet, how distant that era seems now...
