REVIEW: RAVEN, Extermination

RAVEN, Extermination (2015)

Steamhammer

Το νιοστό άλμπουμ των Βρετανών με το μαύρο κοράκι σαν όνομα. Κάτι ήξεραν; Δείτε το εξώφυλλο. Όχι, ξαναδείτε το καλά. Τι να καταλάβουμε;

Destroy All Monsters, Tomorrow, Fight, Battle March/Tank Treads, Feeding the Monster, Fire Burns Within, Scream, Thunder Down Under, No Surrender, Silver Bullet και πάει λέγοντας.

English:

Prophetic Cover, Amazing Content.

These three guys—John Gallagher on bass and vocals, Mark Gallagher on guitar, and Joe Hasselvander, from the Doom Metal demigods Pentagram, on drums—are unstoppable.

A band that once defined Speed Metal, lived through the NWOBHM era from the very beginning, headed over to America, but eventually returned and has been experiencing a renaissance since the early years of the 21st century.

The umpteenth album by the British band with the black raven for a name. Did they know something? Look at the cover. No, look at it carefully. What are we supposed to understand?

Hollywood, they say, is a clique that warns us about what is to come through films. Heavy Metal has occasionally had some such flashes of foresight. Conspiracies aside, sudden deaths, strikingly coincidental in their frequency, are taking their toll...

This cover tells you the reason why and, if you don't believe it, that's fine. Is “living dangerously” and Russian roulette your motto? Then, good luck!

As for the album itself, it's more of the same, and in the end, we're not complaining about that. Anthem after anthem after anthem.

Fifteen tracks, with the final one, Malice in Geordieland, serving as the bonus track on the original edition.

Destroy All Monsters, Tomorrow, Fight, Battle March/Tank Treads, Feeding the Monster, Fire Burns Within, Scream, Thunder Down Under, No Surrender, Silver Bullet and so on.

One of the good cards in the hand of a band that specializes in good old Metal is right in front of you—and playing on your stereo.

Τάκης "Ε-Μortal One" Γιώτης!
