Δεν είναι ότι δείχνει, είναι ότι γράφει.

Το ομώνυμο άλμπουμ των Αμερικανών Doom (εδώ και Groove – αδόκιμος ο όρος, αλλά...) Metalers ήρθε σε μια εποχή ανακατατάξεων στον σκληρό ήχο. Δημιουργήθηκε με αυτό ένα μικρό πρόβλημα, αφού αρχικά ο όρος «ομώνυμο» αναφερόταν στο ντεμπούτο τους, το οποίο έμελλε να ονομαστεί επίσημα Psalm 9 στη δεύτερη έκδοσή του, πίσω το 1984. 

Πάντως, αυτό είναι το τέταρτο στο σύνολό τους δημιούργημά μέχρι τότε. Συνδιάζει πάντα το Doom, αλλά και το κλασικό Heavy Metal, με πιο μοντέρνα στοιχεία για την εποχή εκείνη, καθώς και μερικά μουσικά μοτίβα από τη δεκαετία του ’70. Με μερικά πολύ ζόρικα δείγματα, όπως τα: At the End of My Daze, The Wolf, Psychotic Reaction, A Sinner's Fame, The Misery Shows, R.I.P., Black Shapes of Doom, Heaven on My Mind, θεωρείται από τα πιο κλασικά δείγματα δουλειάς τους.

 

Οι μουσικοί σε αυτό το άλμπουμ είναι: ο Eric Wagner (RIP) στο μικρόφωνο, οι Rick Wartell και Bruce Franklin στις κιθάρες, ο Ron Holzner στο μπάσο και ο Barry Stern (RIP), ο οποίος αποδήμησε από τα εγκόσμια, στα τύμπανα. 

Μας δίνουν ένα από τα τελευταία, λοιπόν, υπεραγαπημένα τους άλμπουμ για τη μεγάλη μερίδα των φίλων τους.

The self-titled album by American Doom (and Groove – a somewhat inaccurate term, but...) Metalers came at a time of upheaval in the heavy music scene. This created a small issue, as initially the term “self-titled” referred to their debut album, which was officially renamed Psalm 9 in its second edition back in 1984. 

Nevertheless, this is their fourth release overall up to that point. It consistently blends Doom with classic Heavy Metal, incorporating more modern elements for the time, as well as some musical motifs from the ’70s. With some very heavy tracks like At the End of My Daze, The Wolf, Psychotic Reaction, A Sinner’s Fame, The Misery Shows, R.I.P., Black Shapes of Doom, and Heaven on My Mind, it’s considered one of their most classic works. 

The musicians on this album are: Eric Wagner (RIP) on vocals, Rick Wartell and Bruce Franklin on guitars, Ron Holzner on bass, and Barry Stern (RIP), who has since passed away, on drums. 

This album remains one of their most beloved releases for the majority of their fans.
