SANDSTONE
- Cultural Dissonance
Limb Music
As an observer who has followed Sandstone’s career
since its inception, I have had the opportunity to listen to all of their
albums. Their debut leaned more toward hard rock, while their second release
marked a clear shift into melodic heavy metal.
With their third album, Cultural Dissonance, the band
continues along this trajectory, building upon the sound established in their
previous work. The album predominantly features melodic heavy metal, with
occasional hard rock influences, such as the track “No More.” Notably, this
release explores more prominent progressive metal elements within their overall
style, integrating complex arrangements and nuanced musicianship without
abandoning their melodic identity.
Sandstone maintains a lyrical and melodic approach to
metal, occasionally infused with hard rock edges, appealing to fans of bands
like Iron Maiden—who are widely appreciated—and, to a lesser extent,
Queensrÿche. Overall, Cultural Dissonance demonstrates the band’s capability to
craft engaging and well-structured compositions, making it a noteworthy
addition to their discography.
