HELLENIC FORCES, THE GREEK HARD ROCK+METAL MΙX TAPE

Ήταν δίκαιο, έγινε πράξη.

Άλλη μία TDK D 60, μια κασέτα από τα παλιά. Όπως έχουμε πει επανειλημμένα, κάτι είχε ως πρώτη ή δεύτερη εγγραφή· αυτή εδώ δεν θυμάμαι τι. Ευκαιρία, λοιπόν, να αποδοθεί φόρος τιμής στην ντόπια σκηνή, όσο πιο αξιοκρατικά μπορούσα. Το "τίμημα" ήταν πάνω από μία ώρα ψάξιμο στα CD της πλέον αχόρταγα γεμάτης συλλογής μου (το ουσιαστικό «δισκοθήκη» είναι για τους "βινυλιάδες" – εμάς, όταν το λέμε, μας ειρωνεύονται!), για να συμπεριλάβω όσο το δυνατόν πιο αντιπροσωπευτικά κομμάτια.

Αφού πρώτα έγινε ένας επιτυχής απομαγνητισμός της κεφαλής του στερεοφωνικού (με αλλαγή της μπαταρίας λιθίου στη Maxell cleaning head tape μου, που είχε να γίνει πάνω από δεκαετία), το πρόγραμμα ακολουθήθηκε με θρησκευτική ευλάβεια.

Πολλά χώρεσαν, πολλά δεν χώρεσαν. Ο σκοπός της διαδικασίας, πέρα από την πλάκα της ανασκόπησης του παρελθόντος των περισσότερων εξ ημών και υμών, ήταν να είναι η συλλογή όσο το δυνατόν πιο αντιπροσωπευτική. Δυστυχώς, οι πάμπολλες κυκλοφορίες από το 2000 έως σήμερα δεν εκπροσωπούνται, κι έτσι έμειναν εκτός νυμφώνος!

It was only right; a matter of justice done.

Yet another TDK D 60, a cassette from the old days. As we’ve discussed time and again, it already had something recorded on it—either a first or second-generation dub—though I can't recall what this specific one held. It was the perfect opportunity to pay tribute to our local scene, as meritocratically as I could. The "price" I paid was over an hour of digging through CDs in my now insatiably full collection (the term "record library" is reserved for the "vinyl-heads"—they mock us if we dare use it!), all to select the most representative tracks possible.

After a successful degaussing of the stereo heads (including a lithium battery change for my Maxell head-cleaning tape, which hadn't been done for over a decade), the program was executed with religious devotion.

So, here is what fits:

Plenty made the cut, plenty didn't. The point of the process—beyond the fun of revisiting the past that most of us shared—was to make the collection as representative as possible. Unfortunately, the countless releases from 2000 to the present day aren't represented here; they simply "missed the cut."
