URIAH HEEP, Sweet Freedom (1973)

Χαρά μετά την ολοκλήρωση.

Έχουν κυκλοφορήσει τα τέσσερα κλασικά άλμπουμ τους στο Hard Rock την περίοδο 1970-1972, και έχουν πλασαριστεί ως οι διάδοχοι των Deep Purple (προσωπικά, ποτέ δεν το πίστευα αυτό – ήταν πάντα καλύτεροι από τους Λονδρέζους!). Ήρθε η ώρα να προχωρήσουν παραπέρα. Το παραπέρα είναι αυτό εδώ το άλμπουμ, το πέμπτο (έκτο με το ντεμπούτο τους), το κλασικό τους έργο. Η καλύτερη στιγμή, με ίσως την καλύτερη σύνθεση: David Byron στη φωνή, Mick Box στην ηλεκτρική και ακουστική κιθάρα, Ken Hensley στα πλήκτρα και το ηλεκτρικό πιάνο, Gray Thain στο ηλεκτρικό μπάσο, Lee Kerslake στα ντραμς.

Για να χαλάσω λίγο την ευχάριστη ατμόσφαιρα, μόνον ο Box ζει ακόμα. Να είναι καλά, ο άνθρωπος! 

Ένα λοιπόν άλμπουμ με τα "Dreamer", "Stealin'" (που ακόμα παίζεται στα live τους σχεδόν πενήντα χρόνια μετά!), "One Day", "Sweet Freedom", "Seven Stars" (επίσης πολύ αγαπημένο και ακόμα ζωντανό), "Circus" και "Pilgrim", να αποτελούν τα αθάνατα κομμάτια-σταθμούς του δίσκου.

Βέβαια, η απόδοση σιγά σιγά θα αρχίσει να παρουσιάζει απώλειες, αλλά αυτό θα συμβεί στο μέλλον και όχι ευτυχώς απότομα.

Joy after completion.

They released their four classic hard rock albums between 1970 and 1972 and positioned themselves as the successors to Deep Purple (personally, I never believed that – they were always better than the London guys!). Now it's time to move further. Further is this album here, their fifth (and sixth including their debut), their classic masterpiece. The best moment, perhaps with the best lineup: David Byron on vocals, Mick Box on electric and acoustic guitar, Ken Hensley on keyboards and electric piano, Gray Thain on electric bass, Lee Kerslake on drums.

To slightly spoil the pleasant atmosphere, only Box is still alive. Stay well, man! 

So, an album featuring "Dreamer," "Stealin'" (which is still played live almost fifty years later!), "One Day," "Sweet Freedom," "Seven Stars" (also a very beloved and still alive staple), "Circus," and "Pilgrim," which remain the timeless cornerstone tracks of the record.

Of course, the performance will gradually begin to decline, but that will happen in the future and, fortunately, not suddenly.
