Χαράζοντας πορεία στο σκοτάδι.

Οι Γερμανοί heavy metalers βρίσκονται εδώ στην τρίτη τους προσπάθεια, και από αυτό το άλμπουμ θα γίνουν περισσότερο γνωστοί και για το ιδιαίτερο image τους επί σκηνής. Ο σκοτεινός baroque ρομαντισμός βρίσκει σιγά σιγά δρόμο έκφρασης στα ρούχα εποχής που επιλέγουν. Να τονιστεί ότι οι λατρεμένοι Running Wild θα υιοθετήσουν σύντομα το ίδιο image, αφού πώς να το κρύψουμε, τους παρακολουθούν ήδη στενά μουσικά. Ο δίσκος έχει μερικά από τα πιο χαρακτηριστικά κομμάτια του σχήματος. Το γνωστότερο αυτού του δίσκου κομμάτι είναι το Ravenlord, που έχουν διασκευάσει και οι Σουηδοί Hammerfall, καθώς και τα Eternia, Jonathan’s Diary, Rats in the Attic, Allies of the Dark, Slave to Moonlight, Stronger Than Heaven — να τα πρωτοαναφέρουμε — ή το εκπληκτικό κλείσιμο με το όνομα του ήρωα του Oscar Wilde, το τρομερό Dorian Gray. Ένας αντιπροσωπευτικός δίσκος τόσο για την πεντάδα των μουσικών, όσο και για τη κλασική δεκαετία του ’80, που είναι χαρακτηριστική για το είδος. Προσωπικά, του δίνω 9 στα 10, αν και το πιο αγαπημένο μου είναι το The Beauty and The Beast, που θα κυκλοφορήσει πιο μετά και που μου τους έμαθε. Δεν είναι το ίδιο δυνατό, μα εντούτοις το συμπαθώ ένα κλικ περισσότερο.

Paving a path through the darkness.

The German heavy metalers are here in their third effort, and with this album, they will become better known not only for their music but also for their distinctive on-stage image. The dark, baroque romanticism gradually finds its expression through period costumes they choose to wear. It should be noted that the beloved Running Wild will soon adopt the same image, since, let’s face it, they are already closely watched musically. The album features some of the band’s most characteristic tracks. The most well-known song on this record is Ravenlord, which has also been covered by the Swedes Hammerfall, as well as Eternia, Jonathan’s Diary, Rats in the Attic, Allies of the Dark, Slave to Moonlight, Stronger Than Heaven — just to name a few — or the stunning closing track named after Oscar Wilde’s hero, the incredible Dorian Gray. It’s a representative album both for the five musicians and for the classic ’80s decade, which is characteristic of the genre. Personally, I give it a 9 out of 10, although my favorite remains The Beauty and The Beast, which was released later and was the one that introduced me to them. It’s not as powerful, but I like it a little more.
