Με την ελληνική ακραία metal σκηνή να έχει κάνει τα πρώτα δειλά βήματα προς την καταξίωση στην υπόλοιπη Ευρώπη, έμελε σε αυτό το τρίτο άλμπουμ των Αθηναίων ηγετών του black metal ύφους να είναι το πρώτο σε μεγάλη εταιρεία, τη Century Media, που στις αρχές των 90s βρισκόταν σε άνθηση και στην οποία έμειναν περίπου οκτώ χρόνια. Ο διάδοχος του θρυλικού δίσκου «Non Serviam» ήταν το πρώτο άλμπουμ που πρόλαβα κι εγώ τότε. Πιο μελωδικό στον ήχο, κάτι που θα συνεχιστεί σε μεγαλύτερο βαθμό στο μέλλον, πιο Metal και ίσως λιγότερο Black, όπως ευφυώς έχει περιγραφεί από συντάκτη γνωστού εντύπου τότε, η "τριαρχία των χαμένων εραστών" αποτελεί ταυτόχρονα και ένα τέλος εποχής, αφού σαν τριάδα (υπονοώντας τον τίτλο του δίσκου) η σύνθεση είναι η τελευταία φορά που συναντάμε τα αδέρφια, τον Σάκη Τόλη στη φωνή και την κιθάρα, τον Θέμη Τόλη στα ντραμς και τον ιστορικό μπασίστα και στιχουργό Δημήτρη "Mutilator" Πατσούρη (που τα τελευταία χρόνια, με τους δικούς του Yoth Iria, έχει ανακάμψει μουσικά). Ένα άλμπουμ που ηχογραφήθηκε στη Γερμανία (μία ακόμη πρώτη για ελληνική μπάντα) και που περιέχει μερικά από τα κλασικά τους κομμάτια, όπως τα «King of A Stellar War», τον ύμνο «Archon», τα «A Dynasty From the Ice», «Snowing Still», «One With The Forest», και «The First Field of the Battle», τα οποία στέκονται ακόμη πεισματικά στον χρόνο.

Triarchy of the Mediterranean Black Sound

With the Greek extreme metal scene having taken its first tentative steps toward recognition across Europe, this third album by the Athens-based black metal pioneers was the first to be released under a major record label—Century Media, which was thriving in the early '90s and remained with the band for about eight years. The successor to their legendary “Non Serviam” was the first album I experienced back then. More melodic in style—something that would develop even further in the future—more Metal and perhaps less Black, as accurately described by a well-known magazine's reviewer at the time, the "Triarchy of the Lost Lovers" also marks the end of an era. As a trio (referring to the album's title), it was the last time we saw the brothers, Sakis Tolis on vocals and guitar, Thimi Tolis on drums, and the legendary bassist and lyricist Dimitris "Mutilator" Patsiouris (who, in recent years, has musically rebounded with his band Yoth Iria).

The album was recorded in Germany—another first for a Greek band—and features some of their classic tracks, such as "King of A Stellar War," the hymn "Archon," "A Dynasty From the Ice," "Snowing Still," "One With the Forest," and "The First Field of the Battle," which still stand stubbornly the test of time.
