Swedish sea marauders YE BANISHED PRIVATEERS are set
to release their third single, “The Cranker,” from their upcoming sixth
full-length album, *´Til the Sea Shall Give Up Her Dead*, on April 11, 2025,
via Napalm Records. Drawing inspiration from the traditional Swedish folk song
Hårgalåten, “The Cranker” tells a haunting tale of a crew lured by the devil,
disguised as a charming fiddler, into a frenzied dance that leads them to ocean
depths.
With hypnotic fiddles, pounding drums, and raw
harmonies, the song captures the chilling narrative perfectly. Following their
acclaimed performance at Wacken Open Air 2023 and a successful 2024 tour, the
band invites fans to explore the lives of 18th-century sailors through this
album, which combines poignant ballads and raucous anthems reflecting themes of
camaraderie, loss, and joy against the sea's relentless backdrop. YE BANISHED
PRIVATEERS will embark on a tour throughout the year, joining forces with pagan
folk band Faun in the fall—more details are available on their website.
The band describes “The Cranker” as a take on
Scandinavian folklore, showcasing how the Devil, as a seductive fiddler, lures
youth into their demise through irresistible tunes.
