Ανίκητος δίσκος πραγματικά.

Οι μπάντα που τίμησε και σήκωσε στα χέρια της το επικό μέταλο σε μία εποχή που η φθορά στη σκηνή αυτή έκανε ανεπανόρθωτες βλάβες. Οι τέσσερις μουσικοί υπό την αιγίδα του David DeFeis και του κιθαρίστα Edward Purshino στο διάδοχο του θρυλικού The Marriage of Heaven and Hell Part 2, με αυτό το τύποις τρίτο μέρος της ανεπίσημης αυτής τριλογίας, που για να μην παραβούν τα εσκεμμένα το ονόμασαν διαφορετικά έγειρε ξανά τη πλάστιγγα στο μέρος τους. Οι έτεροι συντοπίτες τους οι λατρεμένοι στη χώρα μας Manowar είχαν απομακρυνθεί απ' το επικό στοιχείο στη μουσική τους με το Louder than Hell δίσκο τους κι οι Virgin Steele κλέβουν τη παράσταση με αυτό εδώ από τους άσπονδους εχθρούς τους (μουσικά, τα συγκροτήματα δεν έχουν να χωρίσουν τίποτα και συναγωνίζονται εγγενώς και τα δύο απ' τις αρχές της δεκαετίας του '80) με τα δεκαέξι κομμάτια (πληθωριστικό σαν σύνολο) το  Invictus. Αλήθεια, η αρχή με το ομώνυμο κομμάτι θυμίζει έντονα Manowar, αλλά ως εκεί. Ξεχωρίζουν πάρα πολύ τα Mind Body Spirit, Through Blood and Fire,  Sword of the Gods, ο ύμνος Defiance, Dominion Day και το καταληκτικό δεκάλεπτο Veni Vidi Vici.

Truly an invincible album.

The band that honored and carried epic metal at a time when deterioration in this scene caused irreparable damage. The four musicians, under the guidance of David DeFeis and guitarist Edward Purshino, present the successor to the legendary *The Marriage of Heaven and Hell Part 2*, with this unofficial third part of the trilogy. To avoid naming it the same, they cleverly titled it differently, tipping the scales back in their favor. Their fellow countrymen, the beloved Manowar, had strayed from the epic elements in their music with their album *Louder than Hell*, allowing Virgin Steele to steal the show with *Invictus* against their longstanding rivals (musically, both bands have nothing to separate them and have been competing since the early '80s) with its sixteen tracks (inflated as a whole).

Indeed, the opening track, which shares its name with the album, strongly evokes Manowar, but that’s as far as the comparison goes. Standout tracks include *Mind Body Spirit*, *Through Blood and Fire*, *Sword of the Gods*, the anthem *Defiance*, *Dominion Day*, and the closing ten-minute epic *Veni Vidi Vici*.
