Το Panzer το πήγανε για κλείσιμο;

Ο τίτλος αυτό υπονόησε, αλλά ευτυχώς, όπως απέδειξε το επόμενο Touch Down, άδικες ήταν οι υποψίες που ενέσπειρε ο τίτλος. Η ανανεωμένη, τα τελευταία δέκα χρόνια, μπάντα U.D.O. (Andrey Smirnov & Dee Dammers στις κιθάρες, ο γιος του αρχηγού Sven Dirkschneider στα ντραμς και Tilen Hudrap στο μπάσο), εν έτει 2021 και μετά, μετά το Steelfactory νωρίτερα, έδωσε τότε ένα νέο, καταλυτικό χτύπημα. Αγνό, ανόθευτο από πειράματα τευτονικού Heavy Metal, όπως ο ξανθός, κοντοκουρεμένος και στις φωτογραφίες του CD, λίγο πιο γεμάτος απ’ ό,τι θυμόμασταν, ο γέρος μας έχει προσφέρει απλόχερα τόσο στο 1/3 της καριέρας του με τους metal θεούς Accept, όσο και στα άλλα 2/3 με το προσωπικό σχήμα του. Δεκαέξι, παρακαλώ, κομμάτια που βαράνε αλύπητα, με τα δέκα να είναι κλασικά της ιδιοσυγκρασίας και του ύφους που μας έχει μάθει τόσες δεκαετίες. Τα Fear Detector, Holy Invaders, Prophecy, Empty Eyes, Speed Seeker, Marching Tank, Metal Damnation, Metal Never Dies, Prophecy, Like A Beast, Unbroken, Midnight Stranger δε θα μας απογοητεύσουν.

Did they decide to shut down the Panzer?

That was the implication of the title, but fortunately, as the next Touch Down proved, the suspicions sown by that title were unfounded. The reformed U.D.O. band, active for the past ten years (Andrey Smirnov and Dee Dammers on guitars, the leader’s son Sven Dirkschneider on drums, and Tilen Hudrap on bass), in 2021 and beyond — following the earlier Steelfactory — delivered a powerful new punch. Pure, unadulterated Teutonic heavy metal, like the blond, short-haired look in the CD photos, slightly fuller than we remembered, our old friends have generously offered us both during the first third of their career with the metal legends Accept, and in the remaining two-thirds with their own band. Sixteen tracks that hit relentlessly, ten of which are classics of their signature style and attitude, spanning decades. Fear Detector, Holy Invaders, Prophecy, Empty Eyes, Speed Seeker, Marching Tank, Metal Damnation, Metal Never Dies, Like A Beast, Unbroken, Midnight Stranger — they won’t disappoint.
