Αυτό είναι κι αν είναι εξέλιξη.

Τρίτη προσπάθεια, τρίτο χτύπημα καλύτερα και πρώτη φορά σαν τετράδα με τον Mick Tucker (White Spirit πριν) να έχει αναλάβει τη δεύτερη κιθάρα αλλά και να δίνει και συνθέσεις στο άλμπουμ τους αυτό. Οι Algy Ward σε φωνή και μπάσο, Peter Brabbs κιθάρα και τον αδερφό του Mark Brabbs ντραμς παραμένουν. Μία εξέλιξη τη βλέπεις, λίγο μελωδικό ύφος παραπάνω με κάποια πλήκτρα να δίνουν υπόβαθρο, ίσως έτσι να ξεκόλλησε η ρετσινιά της κόπιας των Motörhead που είχαν πριν. Πάντως είναι αξιοπρόσεκτο άλμπουμ και όχι άδικα θεωρείται κλασικό όπως και τα  άλλα δύο που προηγήθηκαν. New Wave Of British Heavy Metal καθαρά λοιπόν, σε μια εποχή που το κίνημα σιγά σιγά ωρίμαζε (ή ξεφουσκώνει όπως το πάρεις!) σε κομμάτια σαν Just Like Something From Hell, Hot Lead Cold Steel, This Means War, Laughing In The Face Of Death, Echoes Of A Distant Battle, The Man That Never Was που έχουν παραμείνει διαχρονικά τα αγαπημένα ενός αγαπημένου δίσκου της εποχής.

This is truly an evolution. 

Third attempt, third time's the charm, and for the first time as a four-piece band with Mick Tucker (formerly of White Spirit) taking on the second guitar and also contributing to the songwriting on this album. Algy Ward remains on vocals and bass, Peter Brabbs on guitar, and his brother Mark Brabbs on drums. 

You can see the progression—there's a slightly more melodic style, with some keyboards providing a background, perhaps helping to shed the reputation they had earlier as a clone of Motörhead. 

Nevertheless, it's a noteworthy album, and not unjustly considered a classic, just like the two albums that preceded it.

 

Purely New Wave of British Heavy Metal, then, at a time when the movement was gradually maturing (or perhaps just losing steam, depending on how you see it). The album features tracks like “Just Like Something From Hell”, “Hot Lead Cold Steel”, “This Means War”, “Laughing in the Face of Death”, “Echoes of a Distant Battle”, and “The Man That Never Was”, which have remained timeless favorites and are part of a beloved record from that era.
