Hailing from the vibrant music scene of Melbourne,
Australia, Shadow Of Nyx emerged in 2019 under the rhythmic guidance of drummer
Chris Newton. Driven by his symphonic metal vision, Chris curated a stellar
ensemble, enlisting Tim Goodman on guitars, Paul Mitchell on bass, and Campbell
Hill on keyboards. The final touch came with the addition of vocalist Sarah
Light, completing the band's dynamic synergy.
Shadow Of Nyx expertly intertwines traditional
symphonic metal elements – operatic vocals and orchestral arrangements – with
an electrifying intensity. Their distinctive style is marked by harmonized
leads and neoclassical riffs, seamlessly blending influences from both
progressive and power metal. This fusion is particularly evident in the
intricate instrumental passages and sophisticated song structures.
The debut EP, "Melodis," produced and mixed
by the renowned Bob Katsionis (recognized for his work with Firewind, Serious
Black, Stray Gods, etc.), features five tracks that traverse diverse musical
landscapes and delve into thought-provoking lyrical themes.
Noteworthy among these tracks is the compelling single
"Waiting, Breathing, Feeling," complemented by a visually captivating
lyric video. This release provides a compelling glimpse into Shadow Of Nyx's
artistic prowess and thematic depth, showcasing a band poised for a significant
impact in the world of symphonic metal.
