This is a vintage, old-school death metal album with
varying degrees of brutality. The lineup is killer, and the production quality,
impressive for a 1993 release, though it may seem somewhat "hollow."
It's definitely worth a listen, especially if you're a fan of underground
music. The vocals are guttural, the guitars are heavily distorted, and the
tempos are all over the place, reminiscent of Suffocation's early days. The
blast beats, the music, and the double bass drums contribute to a strong album
showcasing their transformation. Their newer material is solid as well.
The riffs here go beyond good; they're phenomenal. The
vocals seamlessly fit the music. The songs are brimming with energy and
originality, making this release thoroughly enjoyable. It's surprising that I
discovered this band later in their career, but I'm glad I did. I chose to
support Sinister by buying the CD instead of relying solely on streaming
services. The music exudes hyper-intensity, speaking to the listener about the
band's evolution as musicians dominating the scene.
The leads on this album are commendable. There's no
pause that slows down the relentless pace; it consistently exceeds
expectations. The vocals maintain their brutal edge, and the music compensates
for any perceived hollowness in production quality. The tempos range from fast
and furious to having a unique groove only death metal bands can offer.
Overall, it's a magnificent release that won't disappoint. I found it so good
that I felt compelled to buy it after initially downloading it. It never gets
boring or repetitive, maintaining extraordinary tempos with drums that do it
justice.
