The journey began 39 years ago when Tuomo Lassila
founded Stratovarius in Helsinki in 1984, coining the band's iconic name
alongside original guitarist Staffan Stråhlman. Timo Tolkki joined their ranks
a year later. Their musical odyssey took flight with the release of
"Fright Night" (1989) through CBS Finland, marking the genesis of a
colossal success story in metal history. Stratovarius played a pioneering role
in defining the "Power Metal" genre with acclaimed albums like
"Fright Night" (1989), "Twilight Time" (1993),
"Dreamspace" (1994), and "Fourth Dimension" (1995).
Tolkki's songwriting prowess produced over 100 tracks
before his departure in 2008, launching a thriving solo career and gifting the
world with enduring Power Metal anthems such as "Black Diamond,"
"Hunting High and Low," "Speed of Light,"
"Paradise," "Forever," and "Destiny."
Stratovarius albums from the Tolkki era collectively achieved sales exceeding 4
million copies.
In the summer of 2022, Timo Tolkki, Tuomo Lassila, and
Antti Ikonen regrouped in secret, rehearsing in Tuomo's garage, harking back to
their origins. The outcome: the rebirth of the original lineup, now proudly
known as "Timo Tolkki's Stratovarius."
Today Timo Tolkki's Stratovarius has inked a
multi-album deal with ROAR! Rock of Angels Records.
