Εpic doom;

Μεγάλη ιστορία οι Σουηδοί, από τις αρχές του 2000 όταν ο τραγουδιστής τους J.B. ήταν μέλος των γνωστών Spiritual Beggars και οι Grand Magus ξεκίνησαν το ταξίδι τους στα φιόρδ της επικής, τολμώ να πω Viking Metal, σκηνής αλλά με ένα πολύ αργοσυρτο μουσικό μοτίβο να ντύνει τις συνθέσεις τους. Εντάξει δεν είναι ούτε οι Candlemass, ούτε οι Amon Amarth (Σουηδοί κι αυτοί!). Η πεπατημένη τους θυμίζει τόσο Heavy Load με επικά στοιχεία από Manowar εποχής Into Glory Ride αναμεμιγμένα με doom αλλά χωρίς αυτό το στοιχείο να βγαίνει έντονα. Εδώ ο Θεός-Λυκος τους από τις τελευταίες κυκλοφορίες τους για άλλη μια φορά τους δικαιώνει. Heavy, doomish Metal, με σημαίες τα Wolf God, A Hall Clad In Gold, Brother Of The Storm, Dawn Of Fire, το  power metal διαμάντι του άλμπουμ το Spear Thrower, To Live And Die In Solitude, Glory To The Brave (οι HammerFall το ξέρουν ότι έχετε τίτλο ίδιο με το ντεμπούτο τους;;;), He Send Them All To Hell.

Epic Doom Metal;

The Swedes boast a remarkable musical journey that began in the early 2000s when their vocalist, J.B., was a member of the renowned Spiritual Beggars. Grand Magus embarked on their epic odyssey in the heart of the Scandinavian fjords, carving out their unique niche in the realm of epic and Viking Metal. Their music is characterized by a deliberate and ponderous pace that envelopes their compositions.

While they may not reach the same heights as Candlemass or Amon Amarth (also Swedish), Grand Magus follows a distinct path, evoking echoes of Heavy Load. Their music combines epic elements reminiscent of Manowar's "Into Glory Ride" era with a touch of doom, though the latter does not dominate. The divine Wolf God graces their recent releases, further solidifying their place in the pantheon of heavy, doomish Metal.

Standout tracks include "Wolf God," "A Hall Clad In Gold," "Brother Of The Storm," "Dawn Of Fire," and the album's power metal jewel, "Spear Thrower." Notable songs like "To Live And Die In Solitude," "Glory To The Brave" (incidentally sharing a title with HammerFall's debut album), and "He Sent Them All To Hell" complete this epic journey.
