KAIVS
- Horrend EP
Independent
In under 13 minutes, this Rome-based band delivers a crystal-clear and relentless Swedish death metal frenzy that defies expectations. Throughout the entire duration, they maintain an unyielding intensity. Max's commanding vocals perfectly complement the exceptionally heavy music, all impeccably produced.
But my primary focus is on the music itself, which
stands out prominently. The recording captures their signature sound
flawlessly, and I immediately embraced it, reaffirming my initial reaction.
Despite their modest self-description as 'no one,' this band is undoubtedly
worth your attention.
Comparable to legends like Dismember, older Entombed,
and Fleshcrawl, this band shows immense potential in the 21st-century music
scene. Their three songs exude an authentic old-school vibe, and Max's
distinctive vocal tone adds intrigue.
I won't delve into the lyrics; my focus remains on the
music, mixing, and their boundless potential. Since discovering them a few
weeks ago, I've been hooked. Beyond what I've already mentioned, this band
possesses a solid musical foundation. Don't underestimate them just because
they hail from Rome; they deliver with unwavering intensity. The guitar work,
characterized by relentless tremolo picking, takes center stage. While there's
not much lead guitar, I appreciate the focus on rhythmic excellence, especially
when lead guitars can be inconsistent.
What can you expect from this band? Swedish death
metal influences, powerful vocals, deliberate tempos, exceptional production
quality, and an outstanding overall listening experience.
