DYING
FETUS - Make Them Beg For Death
Relapse Records
An immaculate release, surpassing their previous album
"Wrong One To Fuck With." This onslaught of brutal death metal is a
testament to their mastery. While the vocals maintain their potency from the
predecessor, the riffs showcase a significant improvement this time around.
These artists exhibit a profound understanding of their craft, delivering a
release that is both heavier and more technically refined.
It's evident that they invested more time in the
songwriting process, resulting in a work that stands out. Some may be hesitant
to embrace this band for various reasons, but for death metal enthusiasts, this
album is unparalleled. The technical intricacies are present, yet the tight
rhythms add an extra layer of allure compared to the previous record. They've
elevated their game, and the distinction becomes apparent when comparing the
two albums.
While retaining elements from their predecessor, this
album boasts superior songwriting. The riffs, in particular, leave a lasting
impression, complemented by the commanding vocals. The vocal dynamics, traded
off between two members, contribute to the overall appeal. It feels like
there's a deliberate shift towards emphasizing the musicality rather than
solely relying on the vocals.
This band defies easy classification, encompassing
brutal death/grindcore and technical death metal, showcasing impressive diversity.
The album captivates from start to finish, prompting my decision to support the
band by purchasing the CD. The vocals harmonize seamlessly with the intense
guitar work, creating an uncompromising death metal experience. Despite my
earlier comments, this album predominantly leans towards the brutal side, and
its immaculate guitars remain a highlight. The intensity persists throughout,
incorporating melodic guitar riffs that complement the overall brutality.
The lead guitars shine, but it's the rhythmic
interplay with the vocals that particularly stands out. The recording is
immaculate, showcasing a thoughtful approach. Every track holds its own, and I
invite anyone to listen before attempting to dispute my praise. This album
delivers exceptional metal quality from the first note to the last, with
production quality that adds to its overall appeal.
