I think that it is time to
find someone that knows to play the guitar and musical theory in order to
present such a release like this. Anyway, we are used to saying that
mathematics are a global language, well I think that this applies to music too
which in a way has something to do with mathematics too. The difference though
is that music besides logic is founded also on emotion. This is the
instrumental album of guitarist Giorgio Rovati who wants to prove to us that
logic, precision and emotions go hand in hand in music and offer us some
magical moments. So, it’s time to do this review…
THE COVER: When you have a title that has to do with time it is logical
to have on the cover of your album a clock surrounded by a flower bush and also
inside it holds a waterfall. The cover is very beautiful and symbolic.
MUSICAL STYLE: Giorgio is a guitar virtuoso which means that he has a
deep knowledge of the musical theory and it is obvious that he can’t be
satisfied by playing only one genre. Actually his style is a combination of
different genres that range from hard rock/heavy metal to blues and jazz. I
personally think that his trademark is the melodic playing he has which is
dynamic and emotional at the same time.
COMPOSITIONS: The album includes 8 instrumental compositions that
can offer to the listener a variety of sounds and emotions. The songs that are
included here hold influences from many different musical styles like hard
rock, heavy metal, blues and jazz. I think that if we put the tag instrumental
progressive metal to this release we could be accurate enough. The melodic
playing and of course the beautiful leads and solos are the elements that
distinguish in this release and above all is the fact that Giorgio creates
music for all kinds of people and I mean for those that have musical knowledge
and those that are simple fans of the specific sound.
CONCLUSION: I have no more to say than this is a work of a person who
has talent and imagination and above all the skills to control them in order to
create beautiful music that is technical and yet emotional; A music that can
make you travel and escape a bit from our grey reality.
