ANGEL DUST, Of Human Bondage (2001)

Περίεργο, τουλάχιστον.

Αυτό είναι το τελευταίο άλμπουμ των Γερμανών Power Metalers που θυμάμαι να έχουν κυκλοφορήσει. Η μπάντα αφού έπαιξε στακάτο Speed/Thrash Metal  στα 80s διέλυσε κι η  επανασύσταση της το 1998 έγινε ως Power Metal σχήμα με το ίδιο λογότυπο αλλά με νέα κυρίως μέλη. Μετά από τρεις άψογες ως πολύ καλές κυκλοφορίες, έσκασαν αυτό εδώ το CD στο οποίο αν και υπάρχει πολύ σκοτάδι συνθετικά αλλά και βάρος (και ταχύτητα που και που,  θυμίζοντας τα δύο πρώτα τους άλμπουμ), εντούτοις τα πλήκτρα περισσεύουν! Και τα πλήκτρα είναι σχεδόν "ρεϊβαδικα" που λέγαμε τότε στις αρχές του 2000, εννοώντας ότι μοιάζουν με techno/rave synthesizers. Εντάξει κατανοητό ότι προσθέτουν βάθος στα ηλεκτρικά έγχορδα, αλλά και πάλι , είναι πολλά που να πάρει! Παρόλαυτα, το ομώνυμο που ξεκινάει το CD είναι κομματάρα. Θα σταθώ και στα Inhuman, Unreal Soul, Disbeliever, Forever, The Cultman, Freedom Awaits και κλείνουν με το Killer του .... George Michael παρακαλώ πολύ, διασκευασμένο τόσο βαρύ που ο μακαρίτης Βρετανός κυπριακής καταγωγής Pop μουσικός θα ξαναπεθαινε αν το άκουγε.

Strange, to say the least. 

This is the last album of the German Power Metal band that I remember releasing. The band, after playing fast-paced Speed/Thrash Metal in the '80s, broke up and reformed in 1998 as a Power Metal outfit with the same logo but mainly new members. After three flawless to very good releases, they dropped this CD, which, although it has a lot of darkness composition-wise and a weight (and speed occasionally, reminiscent of their first two albums), the keyboards are excessive! The keyboards almost sound "rave-like," as we used to say back in the early 2000s, meaning they resemble techno/rave synthesizers. Okay, I understand that they add depth to the electric strings, but honestly, there are too many! Nevertheless, the title track that opens the CD is a standout. I must also mention "Inhuman," "Unreal Soul," "Disbeliever," "Forever," "The Cultman," and "Freedom Awaits," and they close with a cover of "Killer" by George Michael, please note, which is done so heavy that the late British pop musician of Cypriot descent would probably die again if he heard it.
