FLOATING
WORLDS – Skywatcher
Independent
Floating Worlds' journey began in 1998, overcoming
numerous hurdles to release their debut album, "Only A Dream Can Kill A
Dream," in 2007. With J.Soti joining in November 2011, the band's sound
evolved, culminating in their second album, "Below The Sea Of Light,"
released on October 1, 2013, and their third, "Battleship Oceania,"
on May 17, 2019. Now, the band is poised to captivate listeners once more with
their fourth studio album, "Skywatcher," set for release on June 21,
2024.
"Skywatcher" is a ten-song concept album
that stands as a testament to the band's growth and creativity. The album is
narrated by the renowned journalist Paul Rogers, who recounts the mysterious
and melancholic tale of Winston Smith, a nine-year-old boy who vanished while
stargazing in hopes of reuniting with his lost father. This narrative arc takes
listeners on an interstellar adventure filled with enigmatic events, echoing
the spirit of classic science fiction from the 80s and 90s.
The album’s storytelling is enhanced by the atmospheric
compositions crafted by Andreas V (guitars, synths, drum programming) and Mike
Papadopoulos (bass guitar, guitars on "Nostalgic Alleys"). Jon Soti’s
emotive vocals bring a poignant depth to the narrative, while Stelios Pavlou's
dynamic drumming adds an essential rhythmic drive. The production, recording,
and mixing by Dion Christodoulatos at CFN Studio, along with mastering by Nasos
Nomikos at VU Productions Mastering Studio, ensure a polished and immersive
sonic experience.
Floating Worlds ventured into new musical territories
for "Skywatcher," integrating elements that reflect their favorite
sci-fi films' ambiance. This exploration results in a rich tapestry of sounds
that envelops the listener, transporting them into Winston’s cosmic quest. The
album cover, designed by Paper Goblin (K.Tsiakos & G.Papadakis), visually
captures the album's ethereal and mysterious themes.
"Skywatcher" is not just an album; it's an
odyssey through sound and story, questioning the boundaries of reality and the
cosmos. As the release date approaches, anticipation builds for what promises
to be Floating Worlds' most ambitious and evocative project yet. Will Winston
find his father among the stars? The answer lies within the mesmerizing tracks
of "Skywatcher."
