DRUID
LORD - Relics of the Dead
Hells Headbangers
Absolutely riveting and captivating! I'm enamored with their mastery of the death/doom genre(s). The music, though slow, possesses an irresistible and commendable allure. This entire album is a testament to their comprehensive skills. First and foremost, the music itself and the vocals are nothing short of extraordinary. They seamlessly complement the melancholic guitar riffs, and the lead guitar work is impressively solid. In sum, it's an album of monumental proportions. The tempos may be moderate, but the musical craftsmanship here is truly praiseworthy. They unquestionably excel! Their musicianship is impeccably honed, encompassing songwriting, vocals, guitar, and production.
I appreciate the fact that they incorporated not only
the melancholic aspects of metal but also integrated synthesizers into their
somber compositions. The reverb on the guitars and the guttural vocals create
an ear-throbbing experience of death/doom. The tempos, akin to those of bands
like Draconian but even slower, blend seamlessly with the alluring death metal
vocals. Their music is truly distinct. Tremolo picking, combined with the
relentless double bass drumming, forms a compelling sonic landscape. Occasional
acoustic guitar riffs, while not dominating entire songs, serve as haunting
intros to the impending brutality of their doom-infused tracks.
Sound quality is commendable, with no discernible
shortcomings. They've done justice to their music. The highlights of this album
are abundant, primarily revolving around the music and vocals. While the
lyrical concepts remain somewhat elusive, they don't diminish the overall
experience. This band's music is profoundly intriguing, leaving a lasting
impression. The harmonious interplay of the two guitars adds depth without compromising
the raw power of the songs. These musicians may not be exceptionally unique,
but they undeniably know how to craft exceptional compositions. While I hold
great respect for this band, I believe they could have further elevated certain
riff sections.
There are numerous standout tracks, each with its own
distinct charm. "Mangled as the Hideous Feed," "Immolated Into
Ashes," and "Monarch Macabre" are some that stand out. These
tracks are not only catchy but also to the point. Every song on this album deserves
recognition, and there's nothing I would change. With a decade-plus of
experience, this band consistently delivers quality releases. They are
undoubtedly at the pinnacle of their musical prowess. As I've mentioned, they
possess the knack for crafting superb underground music. This 2022 release is a
hidden gem that should not be overlooked!
