Udo Dirkschneider is a
respected musician and an icon for the heavy metal genre. There are not so many
musicians around the world that can claim to have influenced the heavy metal
music as much as him in the ACCEPT era and of course in his solo career. So, I
want to believe that if he still keeps releasing albums it is mainly for his
love of heavy metal. I think a proof of this is that throughout all his career he
has never played anything more than heavy metal.
THE COVER: The album has the title “Decadent” and the demonic guy with
the cigar that is pictured on the cover of it, is a very accurate presentation
of how the soul of a decadent person looks. It might not be one of the most
beautiful covers in the UDO career, but yet it fits perfect to the sound and
the lyrics of the album.
MUSICAL
STYLE: Come on now. If you have never listened to ACCEPT and U.D.O. then
you probably are not into heavy metal music, so just keep listening to your Justin
Bieber records. The rest of you know that once again you will listen here to
the classic U.D.O./ACCEPT heavy metal sound with the only difference that this
time the sound production of the album is closer to the first releases of this
great artist.
COMPOSITIONS:
In this album you will have the chance to listen to 12 new compositions
that all have the characteristic sound that U.D.O. have got us used to
throughout their career. The whole album though is unequal since half of the
compositions sound great and the other half are decent, but yet fail to stay in
my mind. So, the great ones are: “Speeder”, “Decadent”, “Under Your Skin”, “Untouchable”,
“Rebels of the Night” and “Words in Flame”.
CONCLUSION: The album as I said above is a typical U.D.O. release and
it won’t disappoint the fans of the artist, however it can’t be anything more
than a decent release with some very good songs… It can’t be compared with the
great releases of U.D.O. (and these are so many).
