ORKRIST were established in 2000 and rose to fame in the succesive years of 2002-2004 mainly due to many concerts they have played in Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary and Austria. ORKRIST have become one of the most popular groups in Slovakia and supported Nightwish, Ancient, Behemoth or Eluveitie to name a few. Despite their live activity and promising studio albums "Reginae Mysterium" and "Grond", the band split up due to family and job reasons in 2004.
It
was not until 2018 that the comback was announced. Since then ORKRIST has been
performing relentlessly. With critically highly acclaimed album "Artifacts
of Life" (2020) the band received a lot of possitive feedback. Three years
later, these guys & girl are back with their brand new studio effort,
"Luea"!
Picking
up where "Artifacts of Life" left off, "Luea" is a
well-balanced combination of strong melodies, epic atmosphere, folk elements,
male & female vocals, melodic black metal foundation and heavy metal
influences. Eight songs will take the listener straight into a fantasy world
heavily inspired by the works of J. R. R. Tolkien (yes, the name of the band
was indeed inspired by Orcrist, the sword wielded by Thorin Oakenshield), where
you meet dark creatures, explore mythical landscapes and witness stories full
of sorrow.
