HORIZON
OF THE MUTE is a newcoming band from Finland created only a couple of years ago
and having already released this EP I’m presenting to you plus a while later a
full length debut album titled “Trobar Clus”. Finland is an important chapter
in the heavy metal music mainly dominating the extreme and melodic power metal
genres. However, if you are expecting HORIZON OF THE MUTE to be following the
well trodden paths already paved by their co-patriots then you are in for a
surprise. You see using their name as an indicator you already understand we
have something different here.
So
“Horizon of the Mute” is a three track EP clocking in a bit over half an hour
and delivering drone doom metal and as such you should expect the music to be
based on an eerie, dark and gloomy atmosphere. Drone doom metal emphasizes a
lot and gives much importance on the creation of feelings of despair, sounding
very close to funeral doom. What you should expect here is really heavy and
slow to mid paced tempos with a harsh sound that penetrates each and every one
of your bones and deep growling vocals that underline the feeling of despair
and incoming doom. “Horizon of the Mute” is an album for those seeking solace
in darkness, but who never really find it. It’s not a release for the weak of
heart, but in fact it’s a fine sample of drone doom metal. If you are fans of
such a sound then I urge you to check these guys out.
