There are many temptations
in the world we live in and each one of us can’t resist some of them.
Traditional heavy metal is a temptation that I personally can’t resist. I
always want to listen to more and I am especially happy when I find out a new
good band in the genre. TENTATION which by the way in French means temptation
were created in 2012 and they have set as their goal to create heavy metal
songs that continue the music tradition of the French scene. This is their new
release and I am very happy to present it to you….
THE COVER: The cover of the album could easily be a scene from a 70’s
occult horror movie. It shows the reflection of a half naked woman on a mirror
holding a cross and behind her a person or a creature that wears a bull skull.
Yep, it is a creepy cover that you can’t ignore.
MUSICAL STYLE: Well, if their biography didn’t mention that TENTATION
were created in 2012 I could easily take them for a band that comes back from
the 80’s. Their sound is rooted in the 80’s heavy metal sound and their lyrics
are in the French language. Their sound is a mixture of melody with heavy riffs
and above all 100% live attitude in the way that the bands of the past had.
COMPOSITIONS: In this EP you can find 6 compositions which can
travel you back to the 80’s without though copying that era, but instead they
try and give to that sound a fresh air. The element though that makes this
release interesting is the deep knowledge of traditional heavy metal and their
true passion for it. In my opinion the band has a strong influence from big
names like SAXON, DIO and JUDAS PRIEST, but above all you can easily take them
for a band that started in the same era with such great French groups like
SORTILEGE and NIGHTMARE.
CONCLUSION: It is obvious that we live in the era that the 80’s
metal sound is reanimated and although we have many N.W.O.B.H.M. sounding bands
it is rare to find bands inspired by other metal scenes of that period.
TENTATION come to cover this gap and they do it with passion and creativity. I
think that people who are into the 80’s French metal scene should definitely
check them out.
