Decibel Dogs Take on Humanity’s Darkest Habit in "Day Zero"

CLEARWATER, Fla. — Florida-based rock group Decibel Dogs has officially released their latest single, "Day Zero," a track that merges heavy instrumentation with a thematic critique of human history.

Drawing from a blend of classic rock, heavy metal, and punk influences, the band utilizes heavy guitar riffs, driving basslines, and aggressive percussion to deliver a sound that mirrors the song's brooding subject matter.

"Day Zero" focuses on the cyclical nature of human conflict and societal collapse. Rather than detailing a specific historical event or hypothetical disaster, the lyricism examines broader patterns of greed, power, and oversight that have repeatedly led societies to ruin.

The concept of "Day Zero" refers to the metaphorical point of reset following a total collapse—a clean slate where civilization attempts to rebuild. However, the track presents a critical look at this renewal, raising the question of whether humanity is inherently bound to repeat past mistakes if core behaviors remain unaddressed.

By pairing hard-hitting musical arrangements with existential themes, Decibel Dogs uses "Day Zero" to offer a broad commentary on history's recurring pitfalls and the ongoing challenge of long-term self-preservation.

The single is now available on major digital streaming platforms.

Wodos to Release Debut Album "From the Grave" on September 20

Wodos, an old-school thrash metal band from Lévis, Quebec, Canada, will release their debut full-length album, From the Grave, on September 20. The album's lead single, "Head Dead," is now available.

Formed in the winter of 2024, Wodos built their following through a DIY approach, producing hand-made flyers, recording their own demos, and creating their own stage banners. In early 2025, the band released a three-track debut demo on cassette and CD, which drew attention from underground metal publications and was aired on more than 50 radio stations worldwide.

Known for their fast, aggressive sound, Wodos performed over 30 shows across Quebec and Ontario in their first year, sharing stages with acts including Chris Holmes (W.A.S.P.), Quebec thrash veterans Soothsayer, and BARF. The band has upcoming performances scheduled, including dates alongside Canadian thrash pioneers DBC (Dead Brain Cells).

Citing influences such as Slayer, Sadus, Demolition Hammer, Dark Angel, and Quebec's early underground thrash scene, Wodos recorded From the Grave entirely using analog equipment. The album is described as a raw, fast-paced record aimed at longtime fans of classic 1980s thrash metal, positioning the band as an alternative to more polished, trend-driven acts in the current metal landscape.

Ultra-Violence Release New Visualizer for “All My Life”

Italian modern metal band Ultra-Violence have released a new visualizer video for “All My Life,” the title track from their latest EP.

Formed in 2009 when its members were just 15 years old, the four-piece quickly gained attention for its energetic performances and technical approach, eventually signing with Candlelight/Spinefarm Records. Between 2013 and 2018, the band released three full-length albums and toured extensively across Europe, the UK and Japan, building an international following.

In 2020, Ultra-Violence parted ways with their label and continued as a fully independent band. Working with producer Joakim “Jolly” Karlsson, known for his work with Bad Omens, they began developing a new sound and artistic identity.

The band introduced this new era with the “Beyond” EP in 2021, which earned placements on several official Spotify playlists, including Adrenaline Workout, The Core, All New Metal and All New Rock. In 2022, they collaborated with Kellin Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens on a new version of “The Silence” and released a cover of Bring Me The Horizon’s “Dear Diary”.

NIHILUS Release New Single “Absurd Patterns”

Indian technical death metal band Nihilus have released their new single, “Absurd Patterns,” taken from their forthcoming album, Borealis, which is scheduled for release in October 2026.

The video for the single was filmed at Drummachari Studios and edited by Aashank Pereira.

Formed in Bangalore, India, in 2009 by Siddharth Manoharan and Manu Manjunath, Nihilus have developed a sound that combines intricate musicianship with the intensity and aggression associated with technical death metal. Their lyrical themes explore subjects including post-apocalyptic decay, modern geopolitics, and humanity’s destructive tendencies.

The band established the foundations of their complex musical approach with their 2016 EP, Without Grey Matter. Their forthcoming album, Borealis, represents a further development of these ideas, presenting a concept-driven dystopian narrative centered on the gradual collapse of Earth.

Rather than following a single continuous storyline, Borealis is structured around a series of standalone stories connected by an overarching vision of catastrophic ruin. “Absurd Patterns” offers a first glimpse into the album’s thematic and musical direction ahead of its October 2026 release.

VINGULMORK Unveil New Lyric Video for “Krigserklæring”

Norwegian extreme metal band Vingulmork have released a new lyric video for “Krigserklæring,” taken from their forthcoming fourth album, Barmhjertighetens Fallitt, due in autumn 2026.

Formed in 2013, Vingulmork emerged from a shared obsession with melodic, riff-driven extreme metal. While rooted in Scandinavian black metal, the band has consistently pushed beyond genre boundaries, incorporating the intensity of thrash, the weight of death metal and the cold bitterness of black metal into their sound.

Their music is driven by anger, anxiety and despair, while also exploring more vulnerable and fragile themes. Over the years, their dark melodies and uncompromising aggression have developed into a harsher, more complex and relentless sound without sacrificing the rawness that defined the band from the beginning.

Barmhjertighetens Fallitt is described as Vingulmork’s most ambitious and dynamic work to date, built on brutal riffs, desperation and uncompromising intensity. The album sees the band pushing deeper into their established territory while reaffirming their position as a fiercely independent force in Norway’s extreme metal underground.

Align the Tide Release New Single and Lyric Video “JINN”

Maltese modern metal/metalcore outfit Align the Tide have unveiled their new single and lyric video, “JINN,” marking a new chapter in the band’s evolution. The track captures a band that has rebuilt and refined its identity while embracing a heavier and more mature sound.

Formed in Malta in September 2015, Align the Tide spent their early years developing a distinctive approach shaped by a broad spectrum of heavy music. Their efforts culminated in the release of their debut album, Dead Religion, followed by extensive live activity both at home and abroad.

In May 2018, the band joined legendary industrial metal act Mushroomhead on their U.S. tour, performing in cities including San Diego, Seattle, Denver, Minneapolis and Cleveland. After further shows in Malta, Align the Tide expanded their reach into Europe with tours across Germany and the Czech Republic.

In April 2019, the band signed with Cleopatra Records, which subsequently issued Dead Religion worldwide on CD digipak and vinyl. During the pandemic, the band remained active in the studio, writing and recording their second album, Hollow, released through Cleopatra Records in August 2022.

Another major milestone followed in 2024, when Align the Tide supported deathcore heavyweights Suicide Silence at their London show, further establishing the band as one of Malta’s most prominent modern heavy acts.

Now, with a renewed lineup, a heavier and more mature sound, and new music on the horizon, “JINN” represents a statement of resilience and artistic rebirth. As the band explains, the song is “the sound of a band rediscovering its identity,” born from setbacks, lessons learned and countless hours in the studio.

With its message of perseverance, passion and unwavering belief in their vision, “JINN” sees Align the Tide moving forward without compromising their identity.

J‑L – “Ailleurs”: A Cold Descent Into the Invisible

Ailleurs is a threshold between presence and disappearance. In his new official music video, J‑L constructs a world where the body remains anchored in reality while the mind drifts into an undefined elsewhere. The track unfolds like a controlled detachment, a slow slide beyond the visible, where clarity dissolves into shadow and introspection.

Recorded at Heavy Music Records in Colomiers, France, Ailleurs reflects the core identity of J‑L’s post‑punk project: minimal tension, cold tonality, and a direct, unembellished emotional weight. The production favors sharp edges and restrained movement, allowing the atmosphere to breathe with a sense of quiet pressure. Nothing is overstated; everything is deliberate.

The vocals play a crucial role in shaping this landscape. A softened growl, textured and subdued, adds gravity without overwhelming the mix. It is a voice that presses inward rather than outward, creating an intimate tension that mirrors the song’s thematic drift. This approach gives Ailleurs its unsettling calm, a feeling of walking through familiar terrain that has suddenly become distant and dimly lit.

The video, produced by Dark Video Prod J‑L, extends this psychological journey into visual form. Stark imagery, controlled pacing, and a monochrome emotional palette create a space where reality feels porous. The camera observes rather than guides, allowing the viewer to fall into the same mental detachment the music evokes. It is a visual echo of the song’s central idea: escape not as fantasy, but as dissociation.

Ailleurs draws from the lineage of Post‑Punk, Cold Wave, and Gothic Rock, embracing their shared fascination with minimalism, repetition, and emotional austerity. Listeners familiar with dark alternative music will recognize a distant kinship with Killing Joke — not as imitation, but as resonance. The same cold pulse, the same ritualistic weight, the same ability to make simplicity feel monumental.

In the end, Ailleurs is less a song than a state of mind. It does not demand attention; it absorbs it. It does not explain; it invites. It does not take the listener somewhere else; it reveals the elsewhere already present within them. J‑L delivers a work that feels both intimate and distant, a paradox at the heart of post‑punk’s most compelling expressions.

Bellingham, WA — July 24, 2026 — Underground thrash metal force Abyssal Decay have announced their forthcoming full-length album, Call of the Abyss, due for release on October 30, 2026.
