KAOS
KREW – Global Fobia (2011)
Toprecords
Information regarding KAOS KREW remains relatively
sparse, though a cursory search classifies them as an industrial metal act—a
descriptor that is accurate for the most part. Their music possesses the
requisite edge, biting aggression, and electronic textures characteristic of
modern industrial metal. However, the band successfully reshapes these
foundations by seamlessly incorporating a broader range of heavy metal
influences.
As the album progresses, the focus shifts noticeably
toward these guitar and keyboard arrangements. At times, the overall tone,
soaring feel, and progressive aesthetics evoke the instrumentally driven work
of Joe Satriani, even if the direct songwriting remains distinct. Ultimately,
while Global Fobia initially presents as a standard contemporary industrial
metal release, a complete listen uncovers a far more versatile and distinct
sonic identity beneath the surface.
