I have presented to you recently the solo work of the virtuoso guitarist Gabriele Bellini. He is a guitarist that moves in all the genres of rock and metal and because of that he has a sound full of variety. This release as you can notice from the title is based on the acoustic guitar and as the artist says, this is an album that he composed in a short time and more specifically in a month because of his inspiration. My first introduction to the band was with this album. The first 3-4 listens to I thought was all right, then I put it back on the shelf thinking "I'm going to let this one sit for a while." Well, after about a month of it staying on the shelf not being listened to, I began to grow strikingly into it. I'll tell you why... it's not because it's anything too fancy, though as I grew more into the reasoning why they put words to the music, I was drawn into it wholeheartedly. It's an album and concept that just grew on me. This band has been around for quite a while and just getting into them well I'm in, big time. I don't care what the album is rated by others because I think they did metal justice with this album.

DARK QUARTERER is a band that I deeply appreciate. I think that it is a band that if it came from countries like England or Germany or the U.S. they could have made a huge name and following. The good thing though is that quality doesn’t depend on how famous you are. The band from Italy which started back in the 80’s has released its new album under the title “Ithaca”. This is an album which has a strong Greek scent and I don’t mean only the island Ithaca which is the title of it. Actually DARK QUARTERER seem to be a band with deep culture and their new album is a concept based on the poem Ithaca of the great Greek poet Constantine Kavafis. This is a poem that draws inspiration from the Odyssey, but it has a strong symbolism. In a few words this poem means that everything you do does not depend on how it will be in the end. It doesn’t depend on the final result, but the whole process from the start till the end is the essence of life in everything we do. I think you should check out this great poem and make up your own mind, but now let us talk about the new album of the legends DARK QUARTERER.

I think that the phrase there is only good and bad music is quite accurate, but also accurate is the statement that there is music I enjoy and music that I don’t. The album of Alessandro includes music that doesn’t belong to my taste, but for this reason only it would be unfair not to present it as it deserves. Some really good heavy/thrash metal by these Germans, lead by DESTRUCTION's front-man Schmier on bass vocals. This album is some kick ass music! I didn't give it much quarter the first few times I heard it. It was by the time I started hearing it on headphones that did me justice. Guitars are slow (except the leads) really groove-laden, most songs are laid back and the sound is their own. They're not duplicating what other bands have done in the heavy metal/thrash metal genres. They just wrote what they wanted and what sounded good to them. To be exact, they mesh the DESTRUCTION thrash guitar tone with this hardcore blues feel to them. It's about a little less than an hour of good metal.

In 2014 ELVENSTROM released their sophomore full length album entitled “Bloods Lead to Glory”. It is an album based on the tradition of 80’s Teutonic melodic heavy/power and speed metal. The band never hid their love for this kind of sound and they actually do a very good job at it, since they know the way to compose such kind of music. It seems that ELVENSTORM had inspiration for a couple more songs and wanted to make them a gift to their fans. The result of their inspiration is the MCD under the title “Soulreaper”.

It took multiple listens to before I arrived at a firm conviction regarding this album featuring CRADLE OF FILTH's frontman Dani Filth. They're more laid back than COF, though I really dig the vibe of this release. It fits into a couple of different genres of metal and a lot of the music reflects that of CRADLE OF FILTH and DRACONIAN. The main thing that keeps this album interesting are the guitars, they're all over the fret-board accompanied by some synthesizers and female guest vocalists. It's good a cool groove feel to it and Dani sounds like Dani on COF.

ZANDELLE is a band that doesn’t rush up to releasing an album every year. “Perseverance” is their new release and it comes six years after their previous studio album under the title “Flames of Rage”.  In their previous album the band showed to us that they wanted to become more modern and aggressive and in a few words to experiment with their sound. I don’t know if you liked or not that release, but the sure thing was that ZANDELLE offered something different to the audience. So, the question that lies here is where the new release of the band stands; does it continue from the point that their previous album left us or is it a return to the roots and the classic sound of the band?

The Italian metal scene is one of my favorite. Many might have in mind that from this country bands like RHAPSODY only pop out, but if you do a research you will see that Italy had in the 80’s an interesting heavy metal scene and in our days it still has. Also the Italian scene has a lot of variety. STEEL RAISER were born in 2007 and are part of this metal scene. Soon they will release their third album entitled “Unstoppable” which will be released by Iron Shield Records and I am in the pleasant position to present it to you.
