It is really nice to have the chance to present a new band in the crowd and especially when it has something interesting to give to the metal audience. PERCEPTION CONFUSED are from Germany and they were created back in 2014. The musicians who are members of this band have previous experience with other projects they participated in, in the past and because of that in a short time they released their first work which I am about to present to you here.

MISTEYES is an Italian band that has been active approximately four years and during this period they’ve managed to make quite a few changes, the most important of which is the shifting of their musical direction. By acquiring a female singer and adding and enhancing the role of the keyboards they’ve turned towards a more symphonic gothic sound rather than their earlier melodic death/black metal approach. So in 2016 they felt ready to unleash their debut full length titled “Creeping Time” that clocks in over an hour and contains twelve original compositions.

Ότι γνωρίζουμε για τους Ινδιάνους, είναι από τις ταινίες γουέστερν. Ο ταινίες, ανάλογα με τον σκηνοθέτη και τον σεναριογράφο, αλλά και τον σκοπό που θέλουν να επιτύχουν μας έχουν δώσει μια εικόνα που άλλες φορές αναπαράγει προκαταλήψεις των λευκών για τους Ινδιάνους κι άλλες φορές είναι αντικειμενική. Αν, όμως, θέλεις πραγματικά να γνωρίσεις τη ζωή των Ινδιάνων, τότε πρέπει να διαβάσεις αυτό το βιβλίο που γράφτηκε από έναν άνθρωπο που έζησε ανάμεσα τους, παντρεύτηκε Ινδιάνα γυναίκα κι εν τέλει αν και λευκός έγινε Ινδιάνος. Εδώ θα μάθετε για τον τρόπο ζωής τους, τα ήθη τα έθιμά τους, αλλά και διάφορες από τις αφηγήσεις τους. Εντυπωσιάστηκα πραγματικά από τον απλό αλλά γεμάτο σοφία τρόπο που αντιλαμβάνονται τον κόσμο. Μια αντίληψη που αντανακλά έναν λαό που έζησε κοντά στην άγρια φύση και αποτέλεσε στοιχείο της. Αυτό όμως που εντυπωσιάζει περισσότερο είναι το πόσο μοιάζουμε όλοι ανεξαρτήτως χρώματος και φυλής. Είναι επίσης θλιβερό να αντιλαμβάνεσαι ότι ο "πολιτισμένος" λευκός μέσα στην άγνοιά του και την απληστία του δημιούργησε μια εικόνα για τους Ινδιάνους που δεν ανταποκρίνεται στην πραγματικότητα. Επίσης θα συγκλονιστείτε από τις μεθόδους που ακολούθησαν οι λευκοί για να πάρουν τη γη των Ινδιάνων και να τους οδηγήσουν στον αφανισμό. Είναι μέθοδοι που θέλοντας και μη μου φέρνουν στο μυαλό αυτός που χρησιμοποιούνται σήμερα από τους Ευρωπαίους εταίρους στην χώρα μου.

Vampires are a legend that has its origin in the Balkan tradition (though in other countries you might find similar traditions too). It is the legend of the undead who come back to life and prey upon innocent victims. This legend, as you all know, became known to the world by Bram Stoker’s “Dracula”. A horror classic that has also inspired HELSTAR who have released their classic album “Nosferatu” (you have to check it out if you don’t know it yet). Now, after so many years that have passed since the release of this classic album, the band felt ready to revisit it in a way and thus they give us their new release entitled “Vampiro”.

On my research for information about this band I have read the lines “The most long-living Italian progressive rock band…” and I thought that they might exaggerate a bit. However the story proves them true, since the band exists from 1974 and they have taken their name  (at least part of it) from a magician that appears in Ludovico Ariosto’s Romance epic ‘’L’ Orlando Furioso’’. So, here I will present to you their new effort which carries the title “Arx Atlantis”.

Experimentation is a process of testing. It is an effort to combine things and see how they work. It needs a lot of efforts, but surely the final outcome, if the process is successful, is at least interesting. When we talk about experiments our minds go to science, but experimentation actually takes place in every aspect of our lives including music.

ABBATH - Abbath review

With fans wishing the return of Immortal after the great "All Shall Fall" and fans learning of their departure as a band altogether, Abbath acquiring his trio in his strong self-titled release for 2016. Very Norwegian and Immortal-esque, you've got the thrash guitar sound with the aura of production mist or echo to it. It's rather grim like IMMORTAL with a twist to it. The vocals are the same, quite unique and Abbath-stricken. I enjoyed this album immensely. It's got everything that I hoped it would be, dark, thrashy, rhythmic fantastic and all different time-changes. Not to mention heavy in some places, but overall it's quite solid. Abbath is all over the fret-board here. It has an IMMORTAL-soul feeling to it. The music is what drew me the most of it towards. It's quite good and original and Abbath has created some fantastic riffs to his songwriting. Even the lyrics are quality.
