STARGAZERY - Carnival Puppeteers

Sleaszy Rider SRL

STARGAZERY are not just another band. They are a true all-star ensemble of Finnish musicians, whose résumés speak for themselves. The lineup of STARGAZERY features names with a rich musical heritage and recognition from their previous and parallel bands, ensuring a high-quality result. At the core, we find Pete Ahonen (Guitars, Burning Point, Ghost Machinery) and the charismatic Jari Tiura (Vocals, Michael Schenker Group, Masterstroke). The rhythmic duo is reinforced by the experienced Marko Pukkila (Bass, Altaria, Shadow Tribe) and Ville Hanhisuanto (Drums, National Napalm Syndicate), with J. Palmroos (Keyboards, Burning Point) completing the lineup. The experience and chemistry of these renowned musicians form the cornerstone of the sound and quality of their new album, “Carnival Puppeteers”.

“Carnival Puppeteers” marks the fourth studio release by STARGAZERY and arrives five years after their successful previous album, “Constellation” (2020). This interval seems to have been beneficial, providing the band’s core with the necessary time for songwriting and maturation.

Musically, the album skillfully navigates the realm of melodic Heavy Metal, combining the power of the classic sound with the finesse of melody. The clear references to the legends of the genre are more than evident: the band is imbued with the spirit of Ronnie James Dio (confirmed by their excellent cover of "Rainbow In The Dark"), while evoking the atmosphere of Black Sabbath from both the Dio and Tony Martin eras. At the same time, STARGAZERY incorporate characteristic melodic metal elements of the Scandinavian scene, with nods to bands like Pretty Maids and early Europe, bridging classic Heavy Rock with modern Power Metal.

The album title, “Carnival Puppeteers”, hints at a dark and atmospheric theme, focusing on vanity, control, and the roles we play in life. This dark, theatrical concept is perfectly reflected in the cover art, which exudes an otherworldly, almost gothic aesthetic, adding a dramatic tone to the lyrics.

In summary, “Carnival Puppeteers” is a release that impressively combines power and melody, while showcasing a notable variety of compositions. This album demonstrates the songwriting progress and maturity of STARGAZERY and is a noteworthy release, essential for fans of melodic Scandinavian Heavy/Power Metal.
