The
concert opened with a captivating performance by Hliana Tsakiraki, the
frontwoman of the band ENEMY OF REALITY. Accompanied by Yiannis Thermos from
THE SILENT WEDDING on keyboards, they mesmerized the audience for about 45
minutes with their unique interpretations of beloved classics. From Anathema's
"Parisienne Moonlight" to Massive Attack's "Teardrop" and
Johnny Cash's "Wayfaring Stranger," each cover was imbued with
Hliana's distinctive style and expression. They continued with The Gathering's
"Saturnine," a rendition of Manos Hatzidakis' "Ο Ταχυδρόμος Πέθανε,"
and traditional Pontic songs like "Ξενιτεμένα μου Πουλιά" and "Πατρίδα,"
before closing with Florence & The Machine's "Jenny Of
Oldstones," Rammstein's "Mein Herz Brennt," and Paradise Lost's
"Forever Failure." Architects' "Animals," Joan Baez's
"Diamonds And Rust," and Judas Priest's "A Touch of Evil"
further showcased their versatility, ending with System of A Down's
"Toxicity" to leave the crowd in awe.
Following
their set, MAIDEN UNITED took the stage, presenting an acoustic project
dedicated to reimagining the works of IRON MAIDEN. Joey Bruers, the project's
sole constant member, led the ensemble, joined by Greek talents including Mario
Karanastasis on vocals, Renos Lialioutis on drums, Yiannis Thermos on piano,
and Dimitris Katsaros of THE SILENT WEDDING on guitar. The night's special
guest, Dennis Stratton, added an extra spark to the performance.
Their
setlist was a journey through the iconic repertoire of IRON MAIDEN, starting
with the anthemic "Iron Maiden" as an intro, followed by
"Strange World," "Charlotte The Harlot," and "Remember
Tomorrow." The energy surged with classics like "Prowler," "Transylvania,"
and "Sanctuary," before a captivating rendition of "Phantom Of
The Opera" that seamlessly transitioned into Nightwish's version of the
song. The crowd erupted with enthusiasm as they continued with "Running
Free" and returned for an encore featuring "Die With Your Boots
On," "The Trooper," "Alexander The Great,"
"Children Of The Damned," and "Wasted Years," leaving
everyone with memories to cherish.
