Βαρβαρική - ρομαντική όπερα.

Το διαμάντι στο στέμμα των Αμερικανών επικών/λυρικών Metal ηρώων της δεκαετίας του '80. Μια μπάντα που όντας στη σκιά των συμπατριωτών τους Manowar, έμελε να έχουν περιέργως ανάλογη πορεία με αυτούς αν και βεβαίως δεν έφτασαν σε ίδιο σημείο λατρείας απ' το κοινό. Αυτό είναι το τέταρτο άλμπουμ τους για τη δεκαετία και τί άλμπουμ! Διάδοχο του Noble Savage, ενός πραγματικού κοσμήματος στον κόσμο του κλασικού κι επικού Metal, το Age of Consent, περιέχει το αμέσως καλύτερο υλικό που υπήρχε τότε στη συνθετική φαρέτρα των κυρίων DeFeis και Purshino και αν αναλογιστεί κανείς τί υλικό η απάντηση είναι κατ' αρχήν τα τρία πρώτα θεϊκά άσματα του άλμπουμ The Burning of Rome (A Cry for Pompeii), Let it Roar, Lion in Winter τα οποία είναι πραγματικά μια απ'  την καλύτερη τριάδα έναρξης δίσκου στην μεταλλική ιστορία των 80s. Τα Coils of the Serpent, On the Wings of the Night, Perfect Mansions, το οριακά Glam κομμάτι Seventeen η διασκευή στο Stay on Top των Uriah Heep, Chains of Fire , We Are Eternal και  η δεύτερη διασκευή στο Dessert Plains των Judas Priest είναι τα υπόλοιπα πετράδια του στέμματος εδώ. Βέβαια η πιο "εμπορική" χροιά που είχε ο δίσκος σε μερικά σημεία του προοιώνιζε τί θα ερχόταν στο άτυχο κοινό τους τέσσερα χρόνια μετά....το αχρείαστο Rock  πείραμα Life Among The Ruins!

Barbaric - Romantic Opera.

The diamond in the crown of American epic/lyrical metal heroes of the 1980s. A band that, while in the shadow of their compatriots Manowar, surprisingly followed a similar path, though they never reached the same level of adoration from the public. This is their fourth album of the decade, and what an album it is! A successor to *Noble Savage*, a true gem in the world of classic and epic metal, *Age of Consent* contains the next best material from the compositional arsenal of DeFeis and Pursino. If one considers the material, the initial answer is the first three divine tracks of the album: "The Burning of Rome (A Cry for Pompeii)," "Let it Roar," and "Lion in Winter," which truly form one of the best opening triads in the metal history of the '80s. The other gems of this album include "Coils of the Serpent," "On the Wings of the Night," "Perfect Mansions," the borderline Glam track "Seventeen," the cover of Uriah Heep's "Stay on Top," "Chains of Fire," "We Are Eternal," and the second cover of Judas Priest's "Desert Plains." However, the more "commercial" tone that the album had in some parts foreshadowed what was to come for their unfortunate fans four years later... the unnecessary rock experiment “Life Among The Ruins”!
