Επιστροφή από το τροπικό κλίμα.

Οι Μωβ δεν χρειάζεται να πούμε τι είναι ή πόσο επιδραστικά έχουν δράσει στη σκληρή μουσική από τα τέλη της δεκαετίας του '60. Πλέον, με τον Don Airey στα πλήκτρα στη θέση του ιδρυτή του συγκροτήματος (μαζί βέβαια με τον Ritchie Blackmore τότε) του τεράστιου John Lord ( RIP), με τον Ian Gillan στο μικρόφωνο σταθερά για τρίτη φορά από το 1993, το μόνο πλέον αρχικό μέλος τον ντράμερ Ian Paice, τον Roger Glover μπασίστα και φυσικά τον μόνο Αμερικανό της παρέας, κιθαρίστα Steve Morse, επιστρέφουν από το περίεργο ως άνευρο «Bananas» του 2003 με ένα ωραίο και μέσα στα πλαίσια του ιστορικού ονόματος του Hard Rock άλμπουμ.

Όσοι περίμεναν (ακόμα;) νέο Machine Head ή έστω καινούργιο Perfect Strangers, ας ζουν στο όνειρό τους. Οι Μωβ εδώ είναι μεν με το ένα πόδι στον κλασικό εαυτό τους, αλλά με το άλλο προσπαθούν για το καλύτερο, ήδη από τις αρχές του 21ου αιώνα.

Money Talks, Girls Like That, Wrong Man, το ανατολίτικο Rapture Of The Deep, Don't Let It Go, Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye, Before Time Began είναι μερικά από τα πιο χαρακτηριστικά κομμάτια τους.

Οπότε, ας ζούμε ακούγοντας και αυτό, να προστίθεται στη γλυκιά ηλεκτρική μελωδία που μας έμαθαν κάποτε, με τις αναμνήσεις να μετουσιώνονται σε νέους ήχους

Return from the tropical climate.

There’s no need to explain who Deep Purple are or how influential they’ve been in heavy music since the late ’60s. Today, with Don Airey on keyboards in place of the band’s founder (together with Ritchie Blackmore back then), the great Jon Lord (RIP), and Ian Gillan once again on vocals—his third steady run since 1993—along with the only remaining original member, drummer Ian Paice, bassist Roger Glover, and of course the lone American of the group, guitarist Steve Morse, they return from the strange and somewhat lifeless Bananas of 2003 with a solid album worthy of their historic hard-rock name.

Anyone still expecting a new Machine Head or even another Perfect Strangers can keep dreaming. Here, Purple have one foot firmly in their classic self, but with the other they’ve been reaching for something new since the early 21st century.

“Money Talks,” “Girls Like That,” “Wrong Man,” the Eastern-tinged “Rapture of the Deep,” “Don’t Let It Go,” “Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye,” and “Before Time Began” are some of the standout tracks.

So let’s live with this one too—let it blend into the sweet electric melody they once taught us, as memories transform into new sounds.
