PECTORA – Redemption Review

PECTORA – Redemption
Independent
There are some countries that we don’t listen to very often in the metal scene, but when they pop up they have something interesting to give. Denmark for example is a country that might not have the quantity of metal bands of other countries, but definitely has the quality that many would envy. This is the country of PECTORA who in early 2017 released their second 5 track EP (they have also released in 2013 the EP entitled “Burgeon of Hate”) entitled “Redemption”.

I think that everyone recognizes that we live in the era that 80’s heavy metal is the dominating trend in the metal scene and as any trend it carries on board the ones that believe and love what they do and the opportunists. Only time will prove who is the true and who the false one. However, time is not the only element that can prove the real motives of an artist. I think that equally important is the sense that the work of an artist leaves you.

PECTORA, as you have already realized, is a traditional heavy metal band that draws influences from the 80’s sound. In the 5 compositions that are included here you will realize that the band has a huge prism of influences. Personally speaking, I found bands like ACCEPT, JUDAS PRIEST, IRON MAIDEN and a bit of RUNNING WILD (just check out the opening track entitled “Democracy in Disguise”). This is not all though, because PECTORA enrich their sound also with some strong 70’s hard rock and early N.W.O.B.H.M. elements.

The whole album left me with a sense of originality and convinced me that the band really feels what it plays. It is a release that if I listened to on vinyl I would believe that it comes straight from the 80’s. It is an album that includes all I need from a heavy metal release; memorable songs, fresh ideas and passion. Trust me and listen to them.
