REVIEW: FORTRESS UNDER SIEGE – The Mortal Flesh of Love

FORTRESS UNDER SIEGE – The Mortal Flesh of Love

Metal Mad Music Records

Fortress Under Siege is a Greek band specializing in power and progressive metal. Their discography includes an eponymous EP released in 1996, followed by their first full-length album, also titled The Mortal Flesh of Love. Both releases were issued through Metal Mad Music Records, a label that had been inactive for several years prior to these releases.

The band's initial EP was well-received for its songwriting and energy; however, its production quality was somewhat lacking, which somewhat diminished its overall impact. In contrast, the production on the full-length album has notably improved, providing a clearer and more balanced sound that better showcases the band's musical abilities.

Musically, the band demonstrates a solid command of their instruments, and vocalist Michalis Smeros delivers a noteworthy performance with strong, expressive vocals. The album features several standout tracks, including "Deeds of All Disgrace," "Gods of War," "My Foulest Sin," and "Blind Faith," which exemplify their power and progressive metal influences.

Overall, The Mortal Flesh of Love represents a commendable effort, reflecting the band's growth and dedication. Fans of power and progressive metal may find this release worth exploring and supporting.
