Μέχρι πρόσφατα οι TERRA INCΩGNITA αποτελούσαν για εμένα άγνωστη γη στον αχανή χώρο της heavy metal μουσικής. Αυτός είναι κι ένας από τους λόγους που αγαπάω αυτό το είδος μουσικής. Πάντα υπάρχει κάτι καινούριο να ανακαλύψεις και να ακούσεις. Το παρόν συγκρότημα είχα την χαρά να το μάθω από την δεύτερη επίσημη κυκλοφορία του, την οποία θα παρουσιάσω εδώ. Η μπάντα κυκλοφόρησε το ντεμπούτο δίσκο της το 2011 με τίτλο “Barren Land”, εν συνεχεία το 2016 το EP “Sign With Blood” συνθέσεις του οποίου περιλαμβάνονται στην πρόσφατη και δεύτερη επίσημη κυκλοφορία τους.

American Thrash Metal band ATOMIC DROP released their new album «Mid-Card Purgatory». The album was mixed/mastered at "Powerbomb Studios" by Lucas Taylor. Album art by Yuri Chuchmay.

ATOMIC DROP was formed in 2018 at Virginia Beach, USA as a one man project by Lucas “BadNews” Taylor. Inspired by 80's thrash, Atomic Drop also draws influences from black metal and high speed shred guitarists.

BURNING STATES released their new EP «No Place No Redemption»

French Death Metal band BURNING STATES released their new EP «No Place No Redemption». The EP was recorded, mixed and mastered by Mathieu from the studio "The Security Records".

BURNING STATES was formed in 2017 at Rouen, France by Drey (vocals), Guillaume (guitar), Frantz (bass) and Mathieu (drums). The band debut EP "Insanity of Society" was released in 2018 and since then the band touring in France and Belgium.

This LP is eerie and that's what I like about it. For a debut, it kicks royal ass! The music is tight, the vocals are guttural and the production quality is top notch. I like how they change it up a lot during this release. It's really dark and depressing. That is till the actual songs get going and the album progresses very nicely. The guitar riffs are amazing! Really original and innovative. Especially being a band that's just getting started (basically) in the death metal world. I would say this one is one of the top releases in 2008. I think that I'm right in saying so. But for now, we can view it as a somewhat classic album.

International Black Metal band CURSED BE THY FLESH released their debut album «The Ritual». The album was recorded/mixed and mastered at "Studio Toplica", and released by "Necrotic Records".

CURSED BE THY FLESH was formed in 2019 by Nagoth (vocals) at South Carolina, USA. The band  was originally a raw black metal project with session members, but later it was evolved into a full band when Nordslayer (bass, guitars) and Morgoth (drums) joined the band.

Δεν μπορώ να ξέρω αν ο Ross είχε ποτέ φανταστεί την εποχή που ίδρυε τους MANOWAR με τον Joey DeMaio ότι σήμερα θα θεωρούνταν ένα από τα ιερά τέρατα της μουσικής που αγαπάμε. Φυσικά, το ότι απέκτησε αυτή την φήμη οφείλεται  καθαρά στις ικανότητές του ως συνθέτη. Εξάλλου πόσοι είναι οι μουσικοί που μπορούν να πουν ότι υπήρξαν οι ιδρυτές ενός νέου μουσικού ιδιώματος; Κακά τα ψέματα, άσχετα αν τα καραγκιοζλίκια μερικών μελών των MANOWAR μας χαλάνε, η αλήθεια είναι ότι χάρη σε αυτούς έχουμε το ιδίωμα του επικού metal και ίσως και του viking. Και φυσικά σε αυτό είχε μεγάλη συμβολή και ο Ross.

MROH released «The Story» album

Russian Atmospheric Black Metal band MROH released their debut album «The Story». The album was recorded, mixed and mastered by the band in their home studio "MROH Records". Cover done by Diana Yashlova.

MROH was formed in 2019 by Vladislav «Vlamroh» Yashalov (vocals/guitar). Soon after Yuri «Silver» Rykov (guitars) and Florian «Batogar» Issel (bass) joined the band and the lineup was completed.

This is one damn brutal album, the whole way through. I'm not too familiar with this band, I actually have heard about them it's just that I've never had any of their LP's. This one is uncompromising and dark. Hence the name and album title. The music on here and the vocals are what make the band awesome. I've been listening to this one quite a few times to form an objective opinion of the album. There's quite some tempo changes but for the most part, they're somewhat slow. But not in every aspect, they seem to change it up quite often. That's what diversifies the LP. The riffs are original and catchy.

PLAMYA V NAS  was formed in 2013 at Saratov, Russia by Vasilisa Eliseeva (Vocals), Alexey Danilin (Guitars), Vladislav Danilin (Accordion) and Dmitry Danilin (Bass).

Αν ένα βιβλίο ανταποκρίνεται στις προσδοκίες που μας δημιουργεί κατά την απόκτησή του, τότε είναι, τουλάχιστον, ένα ευχάριστο ανάγνωσμα. Στην περίπτωση του παρόντος βιβλίου, όταν το αγόρασα, προσωπικά ήθελα να διαβάσω ένα περιπετειώδες ανάγνωσμα όπως αυτά που μας έχει συνηθίσει ο Νταν Μπράουν. "Το αγκάθινο στέμμα" μου πρόσφερε αυτό, αλλά και κάτι παραπάνω μιας και πολλές στιγμές μου έφερε στο νου και περιπέτειες του διάσημου κινηματογραφικού αρχαιολόγου. Πρόκειται για ένα ανάγνωσμα που κυλάει γρήγορα και κατά την διαδικασία ανάγνωσής του μαθαίνεις 2 - 3 πράγματα για την ανατολική Ρωμαϊκή αυτοκρατορία.

Βεβαίως κι έχει και ελαττώματα, όπως ότι δεν αναλύει περισσότερο την ψυχοσύνθεση των χαρακτήρων του, αλλά μπορώ να το δικαιολογήσω γιατί σκοπός του βιβλίου είναι να μας ψυχαγωγήσει και να μας προσφέρει μια ιστορία δράσης. Επίσης θα ήθελα να μου δώσει περισσότερες λεπτομέρειες για το τάγμα των μυστικών και γενικά με αφήνει με την αίσθηση ότι έπρεπε να μου δώσει κάτι περισσότερο στο τέλος, αλά και πάλι πιστεύω ότι ο συγγραφέας το κάνει αυτό γιατί έχει κατά νου να συνεχίσει τις περιπέτειες των ηρώων του και σε επόμενα βιβλία.

Σε κάθε περίπτωση εγώ πέρασα πολύ ωραία διαβάζοντάς το...

Οι  CHAOS OVER COSMOS είναι ένα studio project συνεργασίας μεταξύ μουσικών από διάφορες περιοχές του κόσμου. Στην πρώτη τους κυκλοφορία με τίτλο «The Unknown Voyage» υπήρξε συνεργασία μεταξύ του Rafał Bowman εκ Πολωνίας και του Ισπανού τραγουδιστή Javier Calderon.  Στην παρούσα κυκλοφορία που αποτελεί και το δεύτερο μεγάλης διάρκειας δίσκο του συγκροτήματος υπάρχει συνεργασία μεταξύ του Rafał Bowman και του Αυστραλού τραγουδιστή Joshua Ratcliff επίσης μέλος του συγκροτήματος RESURGENCE.

This is a dark album, the production makes the atmosphere that way as does the music. I like the riffs for all the songs, and the vocals have a tint of reverb to them. It makes the music seem to be more satisfactory. Musically, I'd have to say for a unique genre of metal, these guys do a good job at identifying brutality within a thrash metal type of feel. The melodies are pretty sick and the drums just nullify your skull. I think that here's a good illustration of a band that will continue to (hopefully) progress musically. They hit every angle on here. Everything about this album is dark hence their origin.

Οι TALES OF MEDUSA είναι μια μπάντα μυστήριο. Πέραν του ότι είναι από τον Καναδά κι ότι έχει κυκλοφορήσει 2 δίσκους μεγάλης διαρκείας ή (πλήρους αν το μεταφράσουμε αυτολεξεί) το 2007 και το 2010 δεν γνωρίζουμε τίποτα άλλο. Αυτό το μυστήριο, βέβαια,δημιουργεί μια ενδιαφέρουσα ατμόσφαιρα γύρω από το συγκρότημα, αλλά δείχνει κιόλας τη στάση του απέναντι στη μουσική. Ουσιαστικά, δηλαδή, θέλουν το κοινό να δώσει προσοχή στη μουσική τους και όχι σε οτιδήποτε άλλο.

French Progressive Death Metal band ANGEL RISING released their new self titled album. The album was recorded in "A.R.S Studios" (Marseille) and mixed/mastered by Listenangel.

ANGEL RISING was formed in 2018 at Marseille, France as a one-man project by Listenangel after the drummer Kevin Talley (Dying Fetus, Suffocation) found his guitar work on YouTube and offered him to play drums in a future track.

Ο Nick Giannakos που προφανώς έχει Ελληνική ρίζα είναι Αμερικανός κιθαρίστας, ο οποίος έχει σημαντική παρουσία στον χώρο της underground metal σκηνής των Η.Π.Α. Οι μυημένοι στη σκηνή αυτή, σίγουρα θα γνωρίζουν συγκροτήματα όπως οι power/thrashers WRETCH και DESTRUCTOR, τους heavy metallers BREAKER και τους TWIST OF FATE οι οποίοι κινούνται σε πιο progressive metal φόρμες. Ε, λοιπόν σε όλα αυτά τα συγκροτήματα είναι ή υπήρξε μέλος ο Nick Giannakos. Κάτι που δείχνει και τις δυνατότητες του ως μουσικού. Να μπορεί, δηλαδή, να κινείται σε διάφορα είδη της metal μουσικής.

Well, there really hasn't been much progression (musically) with Destruction for a long while, Hence the "C" rating on this album. Ever since Schmier re-joined the band, they had a couple of good releases namely 'All Hell Breaks Loose', 'The Antichrist' and the compilation 'Thrash Anthems'. Other than that, there really are no innovative riffs like they used to have with say "Mad Butcher" (song) or older albums like 'Release From Agony' and a classic 'Infernal Overkill'. When Harry was on lead the band was at its pinnacle. Without lineup changes and the 90's only producing maybe one good release with a different vocalist on 'Cracked Brain'. That's about it.

Το καλό που έχει αυτό το χόμπι, δηλαδή της παρουσίασης νέων συγκροτημάτων και κυκλοφοριών είναι ότι σε φέρνει σε επαφή με νέα είδη μουσικής και ήχους που δεν θα φανταζόσουν ότι θα μπορούσαν να σου αρέσουν. Σου επεκτείνει, δηλαδή, τους μουσικούς ορίζοντες. Επίσης κάτι που έμαθα από όλα αυτά τα χρόνια είναι ότι όταν γράφω μια κριτική για μια δουλειά την ίδια στιγμή κρίνομαι κι εγώ. Οπότε, μάλλον, καταλαβαίνετε μερικοί ότι οι υστερόβουλες και γεμάτο κακία παρουσιάσεις δίσκων δεν μειώνουν την δουλειά κάποιου αλλά δείχνουν τον χαρακτήρα σας.

ADDICT released their new single «Crimson Sky»

Russian Groove Metal band ADDICT released their new single «Crimson Sky». The single was recorded at "Sirius Studios" and mixed/mastered by Amin Shadmanov. Cover art by Dmitriy Gusev and Devilspet.

ADDICT was formed in 2011 by guitarist Daniel in Moscow, but active work was started only in 2017 when a permanent lineup was formed and the band was preparing for the first official record. In 2019 the band released their last EP "Against You All".
