Η επανένωση που δεν τους δικαίωσε.

Οι κ.κ. Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, Paul Stanley και Peter Criss ήταν η αρχική, κλασσική κι αγαπημένη σύνθεση των Kiss απ' το 1973 ως και το 1980. Οι εποχές άλλαξαν, το μεικαπ που τους έκανε ευρέως γνωστούς και το κεφατο Hard Rock τους  επιρροή για το επερχόμενο heavy metal boom που ήρθε μετά, έφυγαν, ξαναήρθαν στη δεκαετία του '80 μαζί με τις αλλαγές στη σύνθεση που άλλοτε καλές κι άλλοτε μέτριες, αλλά ποτέ κακές, τους οδήγησαν σε πιο glam metal/sleaze rock δισκογραφικά δημιουργήματα. Η δεκαετία του '90 τους βρήκε να χάνουν τον αντικαταστάτη του Peter από το το 1981 τον αξιαγάπητο Eric Carr (RIP). Η περιπλανώμενη ομάδα έχασε το δρόμο της παίζοντας σχεδόν Metal στο καλό Revenge ακόμη και grunge στο Carnival Of Souls. Ώσπου το πλήρωμα του χρόνου και τα $ .... Τους οδήγησαν να καταλάβουν σε κείνο το MTV unplugged show ότι ο κόσμος ήθελε την αυθεντική τετράδα. Το cd αυτό, δημιούργημα μάλλον της δισκογραφικής μαφίας που τους είχε δει σαν τη χήνα που γεννά χρυσά ας αβγά.

The Reunion That Let Them Down

Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, Paul Stanley, and Peter Criss were the classic and beloved lineup of Kiss from 1973 to 1980. Their music and iconic makeup defined an era, capturing the hearts of fans and paving the way for the heavy metal boom that followed. But as time passed, they drifted apart and took different paths, only to come back together in the '80s.

This reunion came with some changes in the lineup—sometimes they worked out well, sometimes not so much—but none of it was ever truly bad. Their sound shifted toward glam metal and sleaze rock, reflecting the trends of the time.

As the '90s rolled in, things took a turn. They lost Eric Carr, the much-loved drummer who had stepped in for Peter in 1981, and that left a void. The band seemed to lose its way, experimenting with different sounds that ranged from heavy metal on the album “Revenge” to grunge on “Carnival of Souls.”

Then, as if time and circumstances were nudging them, they had a moment of clarity during that unforgettable MTV Unplugged show. They realized that fans wanted the original lineup back—just the way they had first made their mark. This rekindling was likely driven by the record label, who saw the potential of this reunion as a golden opportunity to tap into nostalgia. It was a moment of realization: the magic they once had was still alive, waiting to be reignited.
