Και ψυχές σφάζουν, κι απ' όλα!

Είναι κάποιοι δίσκοι που λες "σαν τον τάδε δίσκο να ήταν  όλοι...". Ε, λοιπόν σαν το Slaughter of the Soul να ήταν όλη η Σουηδική μελωδική Death Metal σκηνή και γενικά η ακραία σκηνή σε όλα τα υπόλοιπα είδη. Το τέταρτο άλμπουμ τους και τελευταίο για χρόνια, είναι πραγματικά ένα ακατέργαστο διαμάντι με κομμάτια που  άφησαν ανεξίτηλο στίγμα στα μέσα των 90s. Tomas Lindberg φωνή, Anders Björler  και Martin Larsson κιθάρες, Jonas Björler μπάσο και o Adrian Erlandsson ντραμς είναι η πεντάδα που είναι υπεύθυνη για αυτό το κατόρθωμα, με τον συμπατριώτη τους κύριο Andy LaRoque μόνιμο συνεργάτη του King Diamond να παίζει το σόλο κιθάρας στο Cold. Όσο για τα υπόλοιπα κομμάτια τί να αναφέρουμε; Blinded by Fear, Slaughter of the Soul, Under a Serpent Sun, Suicide Nation, World of Lies, Onto Others, Nausea είναι πραγματικά αξεπέραστο υλικό. Στην επανέκδοση υπάρχουν και έξι επιπλέον κομμάτια, η διασκευή στο Captor of Sin των Slayer και τα άλλα demo εκτελέσεις.

They slaughter souls, and more!

There are some albums that make you think, 'If only all albums were like this one...' Well, if only the entire Swedish melodic death metal scene—and in general, the extreme metal scene across all genres—were like *Slaughter of the Soul*. Their fourth album, and their last for many years, is truly a raw gem with tracks that left an indelible mark in the mid-90s.

Tomas Lindberg on vocals, Anders Björler and Martin Larsson on guitars, Jonas Björler on bass, and Adrian Erlandsson on drums make up the quintet responsible for this achievement. Their compatriot, Andy LaRoque, a longtime collaborator with King Diamond, plays the guitar solo on 'Cold.'

As for the other tracks, what can be said? 'Blinded by Fear,' 'Slaughter of the Soul,' 'Under a Serpent Sun,' 'Suicide Nation,' 'World of Lies,' 'Onto Others,' and 'Nausea' are truly unparalleled material. The reissue also includes six additional tracks, including a cover of Slayer's 'Captor of Sin' and other demo versions.
