This release revisits the "old" Naglfar, reminiscent of the "Vittra" era with some fine-tuning. The guitars feature familiar tremolo picking with a slight reverb in production, while the vocals maintain their intensity albeit with a darker, more somber tone. This sets the tone for the album, emphasizing its production quality.

I disagree with the notion that this album deserves only a moderate "C" rating; in my opinion, it's top-notch. It immediately captivated me, especially with its ominous undertones. Lead guitar work is sparse but effectively complements the tremolo picking of the rhythm guitar.

The band has truly excelled here, crafting eerie and desolate guitar riffs accompanied by vocals that add to the overall sense of despair. They've elevated their game in evoking melancholy, surpassing even "Harvest" in morbidity. The melodies seem to emerge from the depths of hell.

For those attuned to production, mixing, and sound, it's evident that the band aimed for an ultimately grueling sound.

While I don't delve much into the lyrical content, the vocals and music alone suffice to showcase the band's strength. They've reached a pinnacle in their melodic black metal craft, demonstrating expertise in recording within this genre. The ratings seem to undercut their efforts; they're clearly sending a message that their intensity remains unwavering. The abundance of tremolo picking, coupled with mostly fast tempos, reinforces their prowess. As a devoted fan, I can attest to their consistency in delivering intense and gripping music. Don't overlook this release!

The eerie atmosphere permeates throughout the album, heightening its underground vibe. It's an experience worth delving into; check it out and immerse yourself in its intensity!
