MESS EXCESS – From another World Pt1

There
are many bands in the metal scene that have created concept albums and some of
them are considered all time classics. Such an example is QUEENSRYCHE’s
“Operation Mindcrime” which I mention here due to the similarities it has with
the concept story of MESS EXCESS’s album, but first thing first….
MESS
EXCESS from Italy was formed in 2009 and it is a female fronted Italian band.
The kind of music they play can be described as progressive metal with a lot of
progressive rock touches. The guitars and keyboards play a key role to their
music and the use of two female singers gives to the album a theatrical touch
that fits to the concept story. Musically as I have mentioned the band combines
progressive metal and rock elements along with some jazz passages. Although
they have their own identity, in my opinion they are close to known bands like
SAVATAGE, DREAM THEATRE and QUEENSRYCHE.
The
concept story now gives to the listener a lot to think about. It is a fictional
story about the elite of people that control the world or at least try to
dominate it and they victimize innocent people by using a variety of methods
who want to uncover their conspiracy. The whole story is so realistic that
could be easily true and it is given by the band in such a way that makes you
feel like watching a film. Actually it makes me anxious to listen to its
continuation on the part 2 when the band will feel ready to release it.
MESS
EXCESS introduce themselves with a beautiful progressive metal release that is
technical but in a way that serves the concept story they want to narrate here.
I think that people who are into this kind of sound should check them out…
