FORBIDDEN MYTH'S sequel to "Zantea Chronicles:
The Dream Dominator" is nothing short of a musical odyssey. This epic prog
rock album continues the immersive story of Zantea, a mythical world that
beckons listeners to explore its rich and intricate lore.
Spanning 12 tracks and 70 minutes, the album is a
masterclass in genre-blending. It traverses the realms of classic, art, pomp,
prog, and epic rock, even touching the edges of heavy metal. This wide array of
styles is reminiscent of the golden era of the 70s, yet it brings a modern,
innovative twist. The absence of traditional electric and bass guitars is a
bold choice that pays off spectacularly. Instead, the Hohner Clavinet D6,
processed through Marshall amps, and the vintage Rheem Kee Bass, provide rhythm
and depth, crafting a unique sonic landscape that is both nostalgic and fresh.
Nine vocalists deliver outstanding performances, each
bringing their characters to life with vivid emotion and dynamic range.
Dimitris Koidakis as the Storyteller guides us through the tale, with George
Katsanos as Ovaris, Moss "The Boss" Kordakis as Vosar, and Antonis Komninos
as Derolt standing out among a stellar cast. Aggeliki Andritsou, Dimitra
Preari, Stratos Kanimas, Veandok, and Irini Tiniakou each add their unique
vocal flair, enriching the narrative tapestry.
The instrumental work on this album is exceptional.
George Katsanos on acoustic piano, Minimoog, Theremin, and tape effects lays
down a robust foundation. Bob Katsionis and Nikos Tzouannis contribute standout
synth solos on tracks 6 and 10, respectively, while Apostolis Tsiolis shines on
track 4. Antonis Adelfidis showcases his versatility across a wide array of
keyboards and synthesizers, creating layers of sound that are both complex and
captivating. The Swede's drumming adds a powerful rhythmic backbone, driving
the music forward with precision and energy.
The production quality is top-notch, reflecting the
meticulous care taken by Antonis Adelfidis, who composed, arranged, and
produced the album. The recordings and audio editing at Hydraulis Studio are
flawless, with additional mastering by Dimitris Delis at Studio 222 ensuring a
polished final product. The story, penned by Myrto Gregoriadi and Adelfidis, is
complemented by the evocative artwork of Apostolis Tsiolis.
The album is released exclusively through Hydraulis
Records on Bandcamp, available in digital format with a digital booklet and a
limited edition of 300 jewel case CDs. Additionally, fans can experience the
