KILL FOR METAL – Vol. I Presentation

KILL FOR METAL – Vol. I
Killer Metal Records
When YouTube and of course other sites like that entered our lives and sharing videos became an easy task, this also affected the metal fans too. We have reached a point where many people in our days listen to music directly from the above mentioned sites. This leads also many bands to create video – clips in order to promote their music since the power of image is irresistible. Having all these in mind, I believe, this is why Killer Metal Records released this DVD which has over an hour of duration and includes video clips of some of the bands that belong to its roster (it would be nice if they could include videos or live footage from all of their bands, but maybe this will happen in their next release).

The bands that are included here musically move in the phasm of traditional heavy metal, power metal, thrash metal and evend modern metal. The DVD opens with the clip of the new signing of the label which are the traditional heavy metal female  fronted band CATEGORY VI, whose sound is a mixture of N.W.O.B.H.M. with U.S. metal influences. Next are MEGA COLOSSUS which are the continuation of the band COLOSSUS who play traditional heavy metal with some 70’s hard rock touches in their own special way. DRAGON’S KISS contribute here too with 2 videoclips and their sound is a mixture of BLACK SABBATH and MOTORHEAD. DRAGONSCLAW from Australia is a band that caught the attention of many fans around the world due to their high quality progressive power metal and they of course have strong U.S. metal influences too and a very good singer. EDGE OF THORNS and “Metal Unity” is one of my favorite clips here because they combine great metal music and cartoons. Another band that caught my attention is LORDS OF THE TRIDENT who must be killer on stage and I would love to see them here in Greece for a show.  MAXXXWELL CARLISILE is the guitarist of HELLION and in his solo work he offers us aggressive traditional heavy metal played by a virtuoso. Actually he manages to balance substance and technical skills and both of the compositions here are killer. SHALLOW GROUND are the thrash metal representatives of the label here and they do have some killer riffs mixed with catchy melodies. And the DVD closes with THE ORDER OF CHAOS which is a female fronted band that mixes traditional heavy with modern metal along with some thrash elements and influences from the Gothenburg melodic death metal scene. These guys, too, look killer on stage.

I think that this DVD can work as a great introduction for people that don’t know much about the releases of Killer Metal Records (personally speaking, I have to say that it is one of the labels I always check out and actually I have most if not all of its releases), but it is also enjoyable for people like me who already know the bands and the label’s roster. I think it deserves your attention and you can comment below which your favorite clip from this DVD is.
